After a 7 week wait, I took delivery of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland on Tuesday. I have put 300 miles on it so far, including a 100 mile trip on Wednesday (averaged 20 MPG). The HEMI provides plenty of power (and great acceleration in Sport Mode), and the 8-speed transmission puts that power down very well (except in eco-mode). Fuel economy is atrocious (15 MPG overall), but I did not buy the Jeep for fuel economy. I did some very light off-roading on Wednesday, and the Jeep did very well as expected. I finally took some decent pictures this morning in an empty parking lot near my house. They turned out OK, but are nothing special.

Standard Height:

ORII:

Some others (My friend just bought a 2013 Wrangler and wanted me to take pictures of his too):

I tried removing the front plate using Aperture and here is the result:

And finally, my first mod:

Future Mods (planned so far):
-Mopar Rock Rails
-Skid Plates
-GY Silent Armor tires (possibly with set 18" rims dedicated for off-roading)

If you want to see a picture of something not pictured here (night shots or interior, for example) don't hesitate to ask! However, I will be out of town until July 26 starting tomorrow, so unless I already have the picture, it will be a bit of a wait! :)

The Tesla is a really cool and different concept, which is what intrigues me most about it. It really is very different from any other car on the road.

Does anybody know a good place around DC to get Jeeps wrapped? I am thinking of getting it wrapped in Orange. :D

No, I am not joking. I am going all out Trailhawk.

I sent what I think was a very nice, although to the point, email to Jeep yesterday. I'll let you know when I hear back.

I'm strongly considering ordering an Overland in your color combo, granite with the brown interior. How do you like it? Do you think the two colors go well together? Is there any chance you have any pictures which show the interior and exterior together? Perhaps from outside the car during the day with the window down or something where you can see the interior along with the granite exterior? Some of your exterior pics you can sort of make out the interior but it's hard to tell. Or maybe with the door open?

Update:

As far as the buyback goes, I've been very busy lately and haven't had time to advance it, but I will very soon.

Update: I brought in the Jeep for a third time to get the ACC/FCW Sensor fixed. Unsurprisingly, they were again unable to fix the sensor, and since I notified the manufacturer before the third time, I am able to pursue the lemon law. I'll post new details as the become available.

Also, I am now on Instagram (username: jeepgcoverland).

Since you notified the manufacturer before the third time, you can't pursue the lemon law? Im not understanding this. I really hope you get your jeep fixed because that is not acceptable coming from Jeep. I love my Overland. I just hope I don't run into the same issues you did. Have you had any other issues lately? Keep us updated.

UPDATE:

The Jeep is currently at the dealer, and has been since Thursday night. Someone from corporate is coming in to look at the Jeep and assess it on Monday. I'll update you guys after I hear the findings!

UPDATE:

Unfortunately (or fortunately for my case of trying to get it bought back ), the issue with the ACC/FCW has not been fixed. It has actually gotten WORSE since I last brought it in. I left my case manager a voicemail on Friday and expect to hear back tomorrow.

I've finally come to an agreement. They're buying back my 2011 for a really good price. I tried to make the case that this has been happening within the first year or ownership (suspension problems) but I settled for a really good trade in.

Now I'm considering getting a challenger RT or maybe a Charger/300. It would just be less investment from my end than getting the Hemi JGC.

Anyone have any experience with the challenger RT? I'm actually kinda excited by the idea, I'm not a big fan of the challenger, I prefer my sports cars to be turbocharged and tiny but I'm willing to take a shot on the challenger. It's considerably less investment from my end and considering I just got engaged and hopefully getting married this summer I want to save as much as possible without losing the Hemi engine.

GCOverland, I wish you the best of luck with your endeavours. I will keep you posted when I finally trade in my car. This has been ongoing for a while now but it seems to be materializing from my end.

Thought I'd share so I would let you know that you shouldn't lose hope. You may not get the deal you want but I'm sure you can get a great deal without giving up too much.

Jeep's initial offer was to give me an "unbeatable" deal on the new one, which they said was 4-5% under invoice. I got 7% below invoice the first time around, so you can guess my response. Instead of dealing with them, I think I'm just going to deal with the people in the government (never thought I'd say that) handling my lemon law case, as they can actually MAKE Jeep buy mine back.

Some thoughts after 20 months and 13,500 miles:

I've had a ton going on recently, so I haven't been on the forums much. Anyway, things are starting to wind back down again, so I'm hoping that I can catch up on what I've missed around here! As far as the Jeep goes, I am still glad I made the purchase, in spite of the many problems. At this point, most of the problems are small annoyances as opposed to real issues. Jeep did promise to fix the ACC/FCW issue, but did not offer to buy it back (yet). It has now been 3 weeks, and the part they said would take about a week to come in is nowhere to be seen. If it does get bought back, I am either getting a Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock or another GC, likely an Overland, so I am here to stay either way. :)

Regardless, I can't wait until Summer to have some fun with the Jeep. We've had a terrible, cold winter here, and the Jeep is currently caked in road salt, both inside and out. It looks like the persistent below-freezing weather is finally going to be on its way out starting next week, and I am hoping that I will be able to get a full detail in to get it back to showroom condition as soon as possible. Once the leaves start coming back, I'll start posting some more pictures. I am also planning on doing some longer road trips this summer, so stay tuned for pictures and experiences from around the U.S. :)

A Porsche Macan Turbo will replace the Lexus. I figured that I already have a Jeep and the accompanying experience, and wanted to try something different. The issues I've had with this Jeep didn't weigh in the Jeep's favor, however.

Let me know if you guys (if anybody still reads this thread,) have any questions on specifics, picture requests, or anything else.

So, I FINALLY was able to order a replacement Jeep, which is detailed in my signature. They gave me a deal that we both considered very fair.

Yes, I went with the Summit this time -- I couldn't turn down the saddle interior (even though it is no longer called that, it looks the same). If this interior was available from the start, I never would have gotten an Overland. Some of the new features of the Summit will be appreciated, such as the HK stereo and the active noise cancellation. I will miss a few things about the Overland, however. I never did get to use them, but the removable air dam and the rock rails would have certainly eased my mind when off-roading. I still think the Overland looks better, but the Summit with the Platinum Series Group narrows the gap, and the extra features and the saddle interior on the Summit more than make up for the slightly-worse styling, at least in my case. I'll be posting a similar thread to this when the Summit arrives. Despite the issues, it's been a fun two-year ride, and I'll undoubtedly miss the Overland when it's gone.

Thanks for all of your questions, comments, advice, and support. In just a few weeks, I'll be starting all over again!
