56000 mi as of today

So, After driving from Iowa to Seattle for the past week, My Jeep got to 56000 mi on it. I can't believe I have put 56,000 on the two years I owned it back in June 2013. As I look back, I have been documented videos from my dash cam from the first car wash (I do have a video taking delivery my Jeep somewhere) to doing the cross-country trip from Iowa to Seattle. Here is the photos as it looks today. Some modification as been done, such as LED taillight, adding tow hooks, powder-coated wheels, color matching side mirror cover..... Hope you enjoy the photos and videos.

Congratulations on your safe journey to Seattle. It is amazing that you have 56,000 miles on the odometer after only 2 years. I have seen you a few times running around Coralville and just a week or so ago you passed by me on 12th avenue north of I-80 where I live. Have a safe trip back to Iowa if you are returning to the Hawkeye state. The GC looks great with the modifications that you have done. Who did your paint and powder coating?

I use Rainbow Paint & Blasting up in Cedar Rapids. I worked with Tammy over there, nice lady to work with. As a designer I have couple of pieces powder coated over there and always got good service. Unfortunately, I am in the process to moving out of Iowa to Seattle, that's why I am doing house hunting in the area.

I saw a a lot of Jeep in the area. Lot of WK2 too. I always so couple of 2011+ and couple of V6 Summit and someone has a SRT down in a office at Gilbert and Benton St. Perhaps I have got you somewhere on the dash cam. What do you drive?

Re: 56000 mi as of today

Best of luck on your house hunt. I used Rainbow for a powder-coating job 12 years ago and I was extremely disappointed with the quality. I had tube steps and a front brush guard for a truck done by them and within a week the powder coat started peeling off. When I showed them they refused to do anything to correct the problem even after admitting that they may not have prepped the components properly. I ended up finding Gorilla powder coating in Crestwood, IL which is close to my hometown. They stripped the components and showed me how the tube steps and brush guard were not cleaned and prepped correctly. I would hope that since Rainbow is still in business that their quality and customer service has gotten better which seems to be your situation. I have had Chuck Smith body shop in Iowa City do my paint work and they are incredible with both customer service and paint work. I have been extremely impressed with the beautiful paint worth they do. From your pictures your paint and powder coating look very nice.

How was it so far? Reliably wise, as you may heard in this forum, people having rough shift and DEF line disconnected during driving on the diesel model. I am thinking traded my V8 to a EcoDiesel. What are getting MPG wise when you are driving in Iowa City area. I average 12-15MPG in winter and 14-17MPG in the summer.

Re: 56000 mi as of today

I have had no issues at all, mine was a late 2014 model year build which I ordered from Mancari Jeep in Illinois. I bought one of Dom42's DEF injector protector plates before winter last year and have had no problems with the DEF system at all. I have had all the transmission and current TSB's applied and the transmission shifts great. I just had it in for the radio security vulnerability recall last Wednesday. My only issue is the air filter that keeps tearing at the perimeter. I am on my 4th air filter and Deery Brothers opened a star case with FCA about this issue. Driving around Iowa City I average 22-25mpg all year and on the highway 28 to 31mpg's. On my last diesel fill up my range showed 685 miles to empty. The V6 has plenty of torque and power that has really impressed me. I had an 2006 GC Limited with the 5.7L before the diesel and I really like the diesel better. I have owned and driven several diesel trucks and this one has been awesome for a diesel SUV.

My best so far I was able to do on a highway and following the highway speed was this.

Jeep looks great and the Summit wheels look surprisingly good in black! 56,000 miles is crazy for a 2014!! Your 2014 Summit has 53,000 more miles than my 2014 Summit lol. Good luck with the move and don't forget to bring an umbrella! :-D

Being a Hongkonger for since I was born, I think Hongkonger shows the world we are no lack of umbrella and we always find creative way to put it in good use.....

Re: 56000 mi as of today

Johnny, I think the 2016's have self parking and lane assist added to the electronic bells and whistles. Maybe time to start thinking about a trade in for a 2016 Summit EcoDiesel? Either way, 56k miles in such short time is a feat in it's own, that's a lot of seat time!
