Bandwagon WK2.5

Starting a thread on mine - jumped on the bandwagon with everyone else and their Jeeps.

Had a 2011 when they first came out - traded in an E53 X5 that was about to lose it's clutch - couldn't convince my wife that another X5 wouldn't need $1k trips to the shop and the Jeep ticked all the right boxes.

Re: Bandwagon WK2.5

Had the Jeep for about 2 1/2 years or so, then found out that we had another kid one on the way, so traded in for a minivan - a necessary evil with little ones.

I get the bad rap, but really, a minivan is really the ultimate utility vehicle - tons of room a 4x8 sheet of plywood will fit in the back - low entry height so the kids can get in and out by themselves - and sliding doors so the rug rats don't freakin ding the doors

Re: Bandwagon WK2.5

My wife loved the jeep and wouldn't stop talking about it - I had other things in mind - my heart was set on a Range Rover Sport Supercharged - who can argue with 510hp?

ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1461427085.547885.jpg

Was going to go for the stormtrooper look - had CarMax bring one in from GA - truly fully loaded, with adaptive cruise and all that - but was disappointed once it came in - the interior was filthy and a couple little things were wrong with it - so much for the 125 point inspection, the rear hatch didn't work - took it as an omen and walked away

Re: Bandwagon WK2.5

So, stumbled upon a 2014 Overland, well optioned in a unique color - high miles, but in good condition

Day 1, right off the lot - should keep me entertained for a while

Love the green in the sun - it's a lot like the blackberry blue - looks almost black, and is all 'twilight' sparkles in the sun

Re: Bandwagon WK2.5

First mod's - removed the overland badge

And tried out some plastidip on the rear bumper step - used painters tape to protect against scrapes when I reinstalled, however the paint stuck to the dip in a couple of places

Re: Bandwagon WK2.5

Welcome back. Cool color, you must have found just the right light to make it look that green. There is a WK2 at my work in that same color and it look black 97% of the time. I think you have to squint your eyes just right, and be breathing a certain way to see the green haha jk jk.

Oh and hey you don't have to preach to me about the minivan thing. My wife has a 2015 Odyssey Touring and we LOVE it!

Re: Bandwagon WK2.5

Today's agenda - Tint. Amazing how a little detail completes the look

ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1461617465.497035.jpg

Also mounted up the side steps - feel a little silly since it came with them, but the previous owner removed 'em - need them with the little ones

Re: Bandwagon WK2.5

No wonder you need those side steps, you keep parking it in offroad 2 setting haha.

Looks great! As far as the chrome, I say just leave it. There is simply way too much of it on the Overland to get rid of it all without spending a ton of money. Plus I'm not sure if anything would look better than the chrome does against that green color. I say leave it!

Re: Bandwagon WK2.5

Got the new tires mounted today - now it sounds like a real Jeep - Duratracs and Mopar rims

A bit overcast - and it's at normal height
