The Federal signal Valor lightbar comes with wires pre-configured for separate colors (depending on your custom build).
I have a switch for all blue, a switch for blue and white, and a solid white switch.

Re: Emergency WK2

I don't see why so many people in this thread are hung up on the lights. It may not be legal in your state, but it's legal in his state. His WK2 is a workin' WK2.

Anyway... you said in your first post you mounted your radio in the glovebox. Is it still there? Have any pictures? I'm looking into moving to a WK2 and need to figure out where to mount my radios (ham). I mounted my radios in my MK's glovebox but I didn't like them there.

Whoa, you get to personalize your FF plates. I don't think I've ever seen that before. When FF plates were introduced in Iowa, my father was lucky enough to be able to convince the lady working the license plate desk at the DOT to find plates that corresponded to his badge number.

Mind me asking where in IL you are? Never seen anything like this(being ff's having personal cars with emergency lights) in cook county.

Yes the radio is still there, I'll try to get pictures up tomorrow. Sorry for the delayed response!

The wiring on the front end isn't done yet, once I get it wired up and get some better photos I'll finish this album, if anyone is interested.

Re: Emergency WK2

http://www.ilfirechaplains.org/files...ights_laws.pdf
or the full laws here

Quote:
(c) The use of blue oscillating, rotating or flashing
lights, whether lighted or unlighted, is prohibited except on:
1. Rescue squad vehicles not owned by a fire
department and vehicles owned or operated by a:
voluntary firefighter;
paid firefighter;
part-paid firefighter;
call firefighter;
member of the board of trustees of a fire
protection district;
paid or unpaid member of a rescue squad;
paid or unpaid member of a voluntary ambulance
unit; or
paid or unpaid members of a local or county
emergency management services agency as defined in the
Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act, designated
or authorized by local authorities, in writing, and
carrying that designation or authorization in the
vehicle.
However, such lights are not to be lighted except
when responding to a bona fide emergency.
Any person using these lights in accordance with this
subdivision (c)1 must carry on his or her person an
identification card or letter identifying the bona fide
member of a fire department, fire protection district,
rescue squad, ambulance unit, or emergency management
services agency that owns or operates that vehicle. The
card or letter must include:
(A) the name of the fire department, fire
protection district, rescue squad, ambulance unit, or
emergency management services agency;
(B) the member's position within the fire
department, fire protection district, rescue squad,
ambulance unit, or emergency management services
agency;
(C) the member's term of service; and
(D) the name of a person within the fire
department, fire protection district, rescue squad,
ambulance unit, or emergency management services
agency to contact to verify the information provided.
So drop the lights issue as Illinois is funny with its laws. Red and White oscillating, flashing, rotating lights are allowed only for LEO. In combo with red, blue is to be used by LEO and other emergency vehicles. Blue alone can be used by volunteer emergency responders. The guy is fully compliant with the laws.

That being said, I do not dig the light bar on the roof.

It hasn't been an issue for nine months until you brought it up...
