Around here you can get charged and convicted of impersonating a police officer even if you are the fire chief--should you attempt to use them to stop a vehicle where that is not related to controlling a fire scene.

Re: Emergency WK2

Im a first responder in new jersey and i also run blue and white.
A pretty nifty setup. I thought about lightbar. But i use my rack to carry ladders

Every state has different laws for first responders. Some states only green is allowed for responders, some red. Some blue. Which is confusing because some states only blue white are for police only. Some states red is dedicated to fire/ems. My state, the mayor has to sign off on a permit that we carry from the department of motor vehicles. Like he said, sometimes we go to the firehouse and sometimes we go to a scene. Usage is only when we get paged out.
My state allows the usage of an airhorn also. Granted these lights are only to "convince" people to move over. It doesnt mean for someone needs to. However we treat every single call with the same urgency unless a chief or command on scene has said otherwise. So if there is a emergency responder behind you let them pass to the left. I cant speak for every responder. But we are not out to pull you over.

Usually you should be within the vicinity to respond to a call in order for our pager/radio to pick up. Therefore. The local law enforcement has heard it through dispatch and know that you are going to a call. I have had police officers in front of me move to the side to let me go past them.

For people that want to just do emergency lights/responder lights. I highly recommend against it. Local officers know usually the vehicles that respond and the responders themselves because we do go to calls together.

All this said and cleared out of the way.
Kinda envious of the vanity ff plate! We dont get that here. The light setup is pretty good! Im impressed you got that radio shoved in that box! I tried fitting mine in there with no avail. My motorola trunked is just too deep. Stuck with my handheld radio for now.

When i get a chance ill throw some pictures of my jeep lit up.

Re: Emergency WK2

The real question is, how many of you guys with lights on your vehicles are reporting that to your insurance company? Which is mandatory in every state if you use your vehicles as an emergency response vehicle. We had a volunteer FF here get into an accident driving like an asshat to a call and pretty much had it shoved up his rear end due to not informing his insurance that he was using his vehicle as a first responder vehicle.

Re: Emergency WK2

Why didn't you "hide" the front LED's behind the grill or even put the lights in the fog area? For the rear, the lights on the tail look strangely placed, why not remove the whites from the license plate area and replace with the blues and then your essentially "stealth" and it looks freshhh
