Took the JGC out on a joy ride today to see some fall colors on Old Stage Road south of Pike's Peak. I took plenty of photos but forgot to put the Jeep in most of them, so no close-ups. I also did a little off-roading (requiring ORII) on some side 4X4 trails and had a blast!
Just had a funny recollection from the distant past. I was living in Chicago at the time, but had just returned from backpacking with a friend in the Colorado Rockies for three weeks. I took a bunch of professional Ektachrome film into my favorite lab in Chicago to be processed. When I picked it up later in the week, the guy comments: "I just don't like this film. The skies are unnaturally blue. I've never seen skies that looked so artificial." Looking out at the typically grey and polluted skies in Chicago, I just laughed and replied: "Obviously, you have never been to Colorado, or to the mountains out West!"
I moved out West shortly thereafter, and have never looked back!
