Hey guys,
Working on my 2014 Summit ecoD PMV - lighting package is complete for now, have a look! I suspect there are not too many like it out there...

Well to be honest, we don't have laws allowing response with lights/siren unless it's a gov't plated vehicle (which no career/vol folks have as PMVs). Only chiefs/DCs are permitted code response vehicles. This is more of a hobby/obsession than anything else, I generally would only ever use it while parked.

Yes, there are people stupid enough to attempt this.

I was on duty one night and got a call from dispatch of someone pretending to be a cop and attempting to pull cars over. A female motorist called it in on her cell phone as the guy was trying to get her to pull over on the highway a few miles outside of town. She wisely didn't because there was something about the whole thing that didn't seem right to her.

We pulled the guy over. Turns out it was a 16 year kid and a friend who had his Dad's oversize load escort service vehicle. He tried covering the amber kojack lights with red colored cellophane. They thought it would be fun to see if they could get people to pull over.

The grin came off his face pretty quick when he found himself looking down the muzzle of my 870 on a felony traffic stop. It was one of those "priceless" moments.

Technically, we are allowed to install white, orange and blue strobes? Just can't do red and blue? or something like that. Car also must be stopped in a parking lot, not driving?

Impersonating a police officer is a hefty fine. I still want red and blue strobes though... :D

I suppose it varies by state. In Wisconsin, all of the various responders use red alone or along with either white or amber depending on their function. Police use red and blue, with blue being a color restricted to law enforcement only.

I had 2 red and blue Code 3 Dash Lasers in my personal vehicle but the only time I ever used them was if I was off duty and happened upon an accident scene.

LOL... yes, impersonating an officer is a hefty fine here as well.
