Had 20% front tints installed today and stuck the VG sharkfin on the roof in place of the stock antenna. Pleased with both, no issues w/ reception after installing sharkfin. Still waiting for the tints to dry out...

Looks great, I think that's the first mods that should be done to these trucks. I love the true blue too.

I agree - the Sharkfin is a great little mod to the appearance of the Jeep.
Might I ask - how did you go around ordering it? I looked on their website and had a hard time seeing any for a Jeep for 2012 or 2013 - or in my paint code. I am really trying to find one.

Also - will this change how GPS or Sirius receive as well? I keep seeing AM/FM on the website but nothing about the other - and I am not sure if those are routed through a window antenna or anything

Thanks for the comments. I predominately went with the sharkfin to lower the obstruction with the roof rack when loading kayaks. I'll post some pictures soon of the RRO rack w/ my kayak on top, it would not have cleared the factory antenna.

I actually bought mine from another forum member, I can't speak to ordering via the website. That said, in my research I found that Visual Garage products are available on amazon and much more clearly labelled for 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and with available Jeep paint colors. See this link. The factory antenna has the GPS/Sirius components in the base and the removable mast is used for AM/FM. The sharkfin replace the mast but is installed around the base. The base continues to operate fine for GPS and Sirius. I have noticed worse AM reception w/ the sharkfin, but it's otherwise fine.

The other great thing about the shark fin is that it greatly reduces the obstruction of the old antenna into the roof rack. You can see from this picture that it will no longer interfere with rack mounted accessories. Hopefully it will continue to function with a kayak on top of it ;)
