Thumbs up got '15 summit 4x2 v6 - funny buying experience

funny buying experience = was all set to get a '15 honda crv touring which was definitely my 'second choice' but i was trying to be sensible with my budget. the crv touring is really nice and even has features the summit doesn't (like lane warning, lane keep assist [auto steering!]) but anyway, i got as far as going to dealer to pick it up only to find it was in the shop with a bad electronic module. i left with a loaner a bit bummed as you can imagine. drove the loaner base crv (cheaper feeling and noisier than top level touring, not surprisingly) and when i got home i decided to check on jgc inventory at local dealership, and what do you know, the dealer that has NEVER had what i wanted (4x2 granite summit v6) had one in stock.
went and checked it out, bought it, returned the loaner crv.

LOVE the '15 summit jgc. obviously a whole different league... very luxurious. i am surprised it doesn't have lane warning/assist as other j/c/d models do (cherokee?). oh well... i was jazzed when i found out i can ask my new jeep "nearest starbucks" and it worked.

hk stereo seems bass heavy even with equalizer at min bass, but depends on source and track it seems.

car is certainly quiet (almost no wind/engine noise when cruising) but still a bit more tire noise than i'd like but still overall good.

not a fan of wood at top of steering wheel, but amazed at the wheel controls (really great) and customization of displays and controls.

well that's about it for now... hopefully it will serve me well. it was certainly a big chunk more than what i was planning on getting!

I'm so envious. Not for the Jeep.... but that beautiful weather.

I'm freezing up here !!

That's a cool story. Almost like it was meant to be.

I love my Summit as well. It has everything my Lexus GX470 had and more. Great snow vehicle.

Not that you'll ever experience that awesome feeling....

Re: got '15 summit 4x2 v6 - funny buying experience

hey gravity, i was up in canmore/jasper last summer... WONDERFUL area. my gf wants to move there but i told her she needed to experience a winter before making that decision.

on the plane ride back to florida a guy from calgary sat next to me and he was moving to florida!

i guess the grass is seen as greener, or whiter.

congrats on your summit. i was amazed at how many jgc's i saw up there... and that was an inspiration to get one. despite all the complaints i've read about after seeing them all over there i figured how bad could they be!?

oh and gx470 is a fine vehicle, but a bit quirky with the back 'barn' door for example.

Love your story and that's a beautiful Jeep butů., you don't like the wooden part of the steering wheel? It's one of my favorite things about my new to me 2013 JGC Overland.

Nice looking GC, I like the color. But I'm surprised you miss all the electronic nannies. I'm happy when they are missing or optional. A responsible driver pays attention when he drives and doesn't rely on tiring beeps, bells or whistles, just MO.

your opinion is not unusual of course, but i am glad this will likely be the last car i ever have to pay any attention at all. in a few years many of us will be thrilled that the car will drive itself.

just found out the car has headlight washers! the manual doesn't mention them except for a fuse as far as i can tell! those suckers are pretty well (nicely) hidden under the headlights!

hey dan, that's a sharp steering wheel! your actually has MORE wood than mine, which is just about 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock maybe. plus i like your wood (more walnut like) than mine (dark almost black).

it's not that i don't like the look or wood in general, but for the steering wheel i just prefer the feel of leather all the way around.

And a number of us will be thrilled that YOUR car drives itself... hopefully nowhere near OUR cars... but even if so, even Uconnect might be more reliable than the typical commuter. [This is the "military you" intended not to include you as a person, just you as in the sense of folks who'd be safer not touching the controls, so please don't take undue offense.]

Reading a freakin magazine right in the middle of traffic on Interlocken Loop this morning in a Miata that had way too few huge dents in it... sheesh...
