Re: It's here!

Congrats... looks great!

But... there's... no... snow

Enjoy the weather...pollen or not! Our p-car will remain tucked away in the garage for at least two more months!

Finally! Congrats, mjw!! For some reason Picture 3 wouldn't display for me but that's ok, she looks great in all the others. Thanks for pointing out the defrosting element for the rear wiper; I had not noticed that before.

Re the Sirius TL subscription, assuming that the forthcoming patch enables this feature, Jeep told me (before I asked them about it) that 430n owners would receive the balance of their remaining 1 yr free TL subscription, PLUS another free year extension.

Enjoy your new Jeep! I'm partial to that color scheme!

Re: It's here!

Well, all is not well. Went out to pull it into the garage and it's dead as a door nail. No response from the fobs, no dome light when you open the door, rear hatch won't open, the seats still work as does the fuel door and after I pulled the OID fuse and reseated it the map lights will work and I can get the dome's to come on if I set the dimmer switch all the way up. I pulled the push button out and used the fob to turn the ignition and nothing. When you turn on a map light the EVIC displays "press the brake and press run to start" and the red security light is lit then eventually they go out. The only thing I did was leave the glove box open with probably triggered the light disconnect to preserve the battery. The battery is fine and I even tried to jump it with the wife's car and nothing.

It's stuck in the back driveway where the pictures were taken and you can't get it out of park so there's no way to move it without dollies.

This is F'ng great, 2 days into ownership and it's completely DEAD!!!!!!!! About the only ting that could have been worse would be it I was out and this happened.

Re: It's here!

Oh no!!

Your the second person I've seen with this issue. Where one moment it's fine, the next it's totally dead. Very very weird and worrisome.

Re: It's here!

Perhaps "the Tekonsha P3 trailer brake controller" is installed wrong???

Mjw, if you haven't tried, maybe pull the negative battery cable for a few minutes.

Sorry.

Re: It's here!

Or perhaps it isn't recognizing the FOBs to turn off the security lock....batteries OK in the FOBs?

Re: It's here!

First off, I resurrected it! I figured out how to get to the battery (you move the seat all the way forward AND all the way up) and removed the negative lead. I left it off for a couple minutes then when i reconnected it everything came back to life. I was reading the manual and they give you two things to do if you are going to be storing the vehicle for more than 21 days, either pop the OID main 60 amp fuse or remove the ground lead from the battery. They even put that 60 amp fuse in a carrier with tabs you can use to disengage it without fully removing it. If you look at the fuse box it's the large white "T tab with the 60 amp fuse. It's really easy to get to the battery when the seat is all the way up and forward so it wasn't as much of a chore as I expected it to be.

I'm 100% sure it's not the brake controller. I metered out all the connections, fully tested it on my trailer and I've used this same controller in 2 other vehicles without any issue. That circuit has power all the time and it was still active when I was having the problem. You can awaken the system by moving the manual brake lever on the bottom of the controller.

I had left the glove box open and I know there's a battery protection circuit that will kill the interior light is it senses a drain for more then 60 minutes when the vehicle is turned off. The vehicle is supposed to wake up when you unlock it or open a door but for some reason it didn't. It was strange what worked and what didn't. Most anything that's hard wired worked, anything that needed to be controlled through one of the onboard modules didn't.

I have it tucked away in the garage and I'm trying to recreate the problem. If the interior lights go off in an hour I'll see if it will wake up. I think this might have been the first time that circuit was triggered since it was built so maybe it was a one time glitch. Regardless I now carry a 13mm wrench in the glove box so I can pull the negative terminal if it happens again.
