Re: Jeep at the beach

Do you have the tent attachment for camping? Wondering if it works very good?

No, I don't have that attachment. I have wondered myself how it is...

Thanks all for the positive comments.
Yes it really is good fun getting the Jeep out in the soft sand. I've gotta say that it feels really unstoppable, and I'm really impressed with the capabilities.
Over 12 months I've taken her onto the beach on at least 6 different occasion for at least a few days each trip. On a couple of the earlier trips the conditions were very dry which made for some really powdery, soft deep sand. But the Jeep always felt really good.

Can't wait to get out there again!

Awesome pics!! Do you have skid plates? I have a wk2 limited with 20in rims too that I would like to take on the beach, but I'm worried about how the wheels would do and if not having skid plates would allow sand to get into places it shouldn't. This is my first JGC (and SUV for that matter) so I want to make sure I do my homework first...

I have not got skid plates yet (they are on my wishlist). However for sand driving I actually wonder if they would be more likely to trap some sand in that would otherwise not get there. So for sand driving I have had no problems without them, in fact the most vulnerable area I found to be just in front of the sump where the OEM skid plates do not cover anyway...

Yea, that could be an issue as well... having sand get caught and staying there...

Thanks for the input!

Re: Jeep at the beach

Awesome pics! Thank you for sharing. It looks like a great place. Question, do you have tow hooks? Some of those spots look like they are pretty easy to get stuck.

Yeah, I got the front tow hook fitted (it's an extra here in Australia). At the rear is the standard tow hook + tow bar. I did have one close call due to the serv 4wd error before having the software fix applied but didn't need the tow hooks on that occasion. Since that the tow hooks have been used on several occasions, but only for pulling out other vehicles!
