Hey guys. Been a lurker and sparse poster around here, but I am finally getting around to making a journal of my Jeep. I have always been a more performance oriented gearhead, as my previous cars were very different to the Jeep. Got a bit tired of the lowered, loud cars and decided to get something with a bit more comfort and extra space since my wife and I were expecting. Picked up a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude in January of 2015 as I found the Jeep to be a great deal and always have loved the looks of WK2. I have done a few small cosmetic mods to clean it up a bit to make it my own. I don't plan on doing to much to this since it is primarily the family hauler. Enjoy!
Current Mods
- 20% Tint on Front Windows
- H11 Nokya 2500k (yellow) Fog Bulbs
- H11 Osram Night Breaker Plus Low Beams
- Black Grille Insert
- Gloss Black Jeep Exhaust Tips
- Gloss Black Window Trim
- Gloss Black Rear Tail Light Bezels
- All Weather Mats
Day I picked her up
Black Grill Inserts and Bulbs Installed (headlights not on and super dirty)
Gloss Black Trim
Gloss Black Tail Bezels and Exhaust Tips
Future Plans:
- Larger/Wider wheels. Looking at some Fondmetal STC10 22x11 in black.
- SRT Headlight Conversion
- Lowered on Bilstein struts and Road Magnet Springs
- Light tint on tails, 3rd brake light, and bumper reflectors.
Wow that looks really good, is that just vinyl on the window trim? What did it run you to do? Wish Jeep didn't stop making those black exhaust tips, I really like them.
Thanks. Yep it's 1080 3M gloss black vinyl that I wrapped the window trim and tail light bezels with. Cost about 40 bucks for the material and a few hours work.
Love the jeep ! I need to get my jeep the black gloss window trim and tail light bezels wrapped.
Did you take the tail lights apart to get that piece separated or just wrap it on the tail light as one piece and cut around it?
I thought about painting it but idk how well that will work out (and I want to tint the tail light pretty dark but I know Jersey cops are super annoying about it!
Thanks bud. I did everything on the car and made necessary cuts and trimmed everything out. Feel free to hit me up if you would like to get yours done by me.
Painting is always an option, but usually a more time consuming process as the prep work and getting it just right would take some time. NJ cop's can be a hassle at times, but I have never had an issues with the Jeep. Previous cars, stopped often haha. Not this one. I too am planning to tint the tails, but very lightly. I don't like them when they are too dark. I prefer them when the red is more of a cherry red than black.
Love the red man! Its different. i see white/black/silver often. Enjoy it, i recently picked up a white '15 altitude, and every time i park it i can't help but look back at it a couple times. thats how you know you made the right purchase.
SIDE NOTE: I see a lot of Altitude's coming with the matte grayish tail bezels. Weird because mine came wl what looks to be SRT bezels from the factory. Mine were gloss black when i took delivery on it..
Thanks! Yeah I see white, silver, and black altitudes all over. I only have seen one other red one since I got mine. I like the "exclusiveness" of it. Not many people with it.
The 14 and 15 came with the grey tail bezels. The 16's changed over to the gloss black. I never understood why they did the grey as they had to produce chrome, grey, and gloss black. Everything else was black, so not sure why they chose the grey. I'm happy to see the newer ones got gloss black. Looks worlds better.
Looks great, like the red a lot. Got a '15 silver Altitude myself.
The gray tail bezels don't bother me too much right now since they kind'a blend in with the silver paint.....but probably swap them out soon for black ones.
Thanks. The red you don't see too often, so it's nice to stand out a bit. I always get compliments on the color everywhere I go.
The grey bezels never made sense to me. They blacked everything else out and they had the black ones on the srt, so not sure why they spent more money on another color. Would have been easier/cheaper to go with the black from the beginning. Looks much better in black now.
I am wanting to put some new wheels and tires on the Jeep and looking for something of the off road flavor. I enjoy the look where the wheels are past the fenders with aggressive tires, although nothing too crazy.
I am having trouble finding 18x9 wheels with an offset around 12-18. I don't want to go to 0 as I feel I am going to need more work done than I am wanting to do. I would be looking to add the RRO Level kit up front for more clearance, but that is about it. All the wheels out there seem to be too tacky for me. I am a fan of the method NV's and pro comp 7032's, but I don't think they come in the size I am looking for. Any recommendations?
When you installed bulbs where they difficult to line up beam properly ? The reason I asked is recently installed new bulbs and lights are not on center and the beams are shining off to sides more than in the middle. When installed they would only go on one way !
Installing bulbs won't require a need for any adjustments. Only time when you need to align the cutoff is when you are doing retrofits or lowering/raising the Jeep.
It sounds to me that your bulbs are not seated properly, which is causing the light to go to the side and not forward.
Great looking ride, I have the dark cherry color as well. I like the mods you've done, I'll shoot you a message when I start making changes if you don't mind.
