Re: Kev's WK2 Buildup - Australia - Photo Heavy!

I know this may seem simple... but you need to get a hold of the Overland grille or the Trailhawk Grille.... either or would make your Jeep look even more bad ass. Nice job. Is your fridge a mobile mini bar by any chance? LOL J/k

Granite Crystal Metallic. May not have the Jeep, but I'll still drop in and keep up with the news.

Re: Kev's WK2 Buildup - Australia - Photo Heavy!

Yeah I have thought about the grill - just not sure yet because I really want a full Bull Bar!

I had the Jeep out at a farm just west of Beaudesert last weekend.

Had a wicked time in the mud!!

Then on Sunday, too it to a car wash and then fitted the side rails to the rack, the canopy and the shovel holder:

Hi Glenn,

I got the button off eBay (yes it lights up) and also a replacement garage door remote.

We've just packed the car to go camping so if I get chance later I'll grab a few detailed photos of what I did. If not I'll do it on Tuesday!

It's the newer style 2012 compatible Mopar accessory - got it from Jeep on the Gold Coast. The brackets are purchased separately and are quite expensive from Jeep though (luckily got a great deal from elsewhere on these, but no longer available)

Sorry Glenn - I forgot all about this!

The switch I used is: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/280862444...84.m1438.l2649

The garage door remote I used is: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ATA-PTX-4...9c86d3e&_uhb=1
Note: this remote is compatible with the ATA PTX-4 remotes, you may have to find one to suit yours.

The switch is wired up in parallel using the NO (Normally open) contacts across the button of the remote. When the button (new) is pressed it basically closes the contact of the circuit replicating the button on the remote. I just soldered the wires onto the replacement remote and the button (doesn't matter which is which).
The LED is wired using a cable (-) ground (I used an existing bolt to the bodywork behind the pull off cover behind where the switch is mounted), and a cable (+) to the 12v supply at the lights switch. - I basically used a multimeter to test which wire has 12v when the lights switch on. I soldered my cable to that one.

I made the remote easy to remove by using spade connectors between the button and remote. This means I just pop off the side panel and unplug the remote if required. To be honest though no one would know what it is (before I put the details on the Internet!), and the car is in the garage 99% of the time when it's not in use.

If you need photos I'll try and do it for you tomorrow or Thursday - got a couple of days off before leaving the coast for Cape York on Friday morning!

Kev.

Very easy to do! Make sure you checkout the multi packs on eBay for the garage remotes to butcher - they're much better value than individual!

If your soldering skills aren't up to much give me a shout and I could always assist with pre-wiring the remotes and buttons! (Jeez I shouldn't say that too loud on a public forum!)
