Re: My 2014 Summit

I wasn't offended in the least. Just trying to add some levity.

A lot of people just don't think things like this through. But I did a lot...OK a LOT of comparisons when I was doing the BMW. I wanted as close to the stock new LEDs as I could get with the HIDs.
It involved spending a lot of money and basically turning around and going with something else because it was just slightly off visually. In the end, the match was as close as I could get via a purely visual comparison.

6000k does have a slight blue tint to it but not as bad as like the 8000k does. Those things are mostly blue with hints of purple.

Re: My 2014 Summit

But still, the ONLY aftermarket bulb I would ever mess with if you want a whiter color is the Osram CBI's. If you are thinking of some cheaper eBay bulb then I would definitely not do that.
I bet a CBI headlight bulbs, and the VLED VX3 LED fog lights would be exactly what you want. See my LED fog thread I posted with pics

Actually, I was looking at the Philips Ultinon bulbs which are made in the same plant as the Osram CBIs in Germany.

Both use the same Philips glass and the same halide salt supplier. There are no details on either bulb's igniter though so can't really comment on the comparison there.

I don't do eBay for bulbs of any sort. Too many fakes being passed off as legit for my tastes. I would rather go with a well regarded supplier who has a track record of providing legitimate products at competitive prices.

As for the headlights, if you are gonna change them out atleast make sure you go with a quality bulb. The absolute best bulb available right now that's near 6000k is th Osram CBI. If you go with some cheap eBay bulb that's just wrong. For the most part, any bulb is a downgrade from oem. The factory 4300k's really are the best as far as useable and most lumens.
Ended up ordering the Osrams.
Thank you again on the tail advice too. Your thread helped tremendously.
There will not be a single incandescent bulb in my JGC (aside from dash)

Was your jeep a new leftover 2014 or was it used? How many miles were on it??

Have you changed out your headlights yet? Could you do some before and afters?? I'm really excited to see what the 6k looks like with the DRLs.

Used with ridiculously low miles (sub-5k and not a factory buy-back!)

I haven't gotten the headlights yet but will definitely do before and after pics and side by side compares.

Zltful, isn't the exterior Deep Cheery Red? Sure looks like that in the picture.

Didn't even know it came in Auburn for an exterior color?

Re: My 2014 Summit

Very sharp colour. I've never seen one on the streets in my area.

Every colour but that one.
