I had a JGC Overland 2011 white V8 5.7, 6months ago. and now I have a Laredo X 2012 black pearl full full equipped.

Having driven the 2 different engine, I can say that both engine are super good. I dont even know which one I prefer. The V6 is a lot more gaz friendly.. the V8 is smoother and more powerfull. I tow about 4200lbs.. so the V6 is just ok. I tow 3 race bikes in a 2000lbs trailer + equipement. The V6 seems more responsive than the V8, and I love the fact that its a bit lighter in the front. You can definately feel it. I had to give the Overland back to the dealer beacuse of Qudra lift issues that they couldnt fix. anyway, Im glad I have the V6 now.

so I got this black baby. first thing, I changed the grille for a altitude

Then I painted the rear chrome plate. I used Dupli Color Perfect match, and I was really impressed with the match. Its perfect:

base coat

clear coat. This is not final pics. I need to wet sand and polish it.

then I added a Mopar Brake controller for the trailer. I wanted a clean installation, so I mounted in the central consol. Just drilled a 1" hole in the back, and ran the cable though there.

Next steps:

1- Headlights. I have ordered TYC replacement headlights because I know I can bake-open them. I want to paint them in black and install retro-fits I was affraid of trying on my OEM.

2- Ordered Morimoto H1 mini projectors, ballast and bulbs

3- I will remove the chrome molding on the sides

4- I have the 20" chrome wheels.. Im still unsure if I will powder coat them in gloss black.. or re-sell them and get 22" SRT8 replica black chrome. I will decide later. My wheels are in perfect conditions if someone is interested.

I will also have some laredo headlights OEM for sale if interested. I will keep this thread going with my other projects. Stay tuned :)

removed the side chrome on doors:

All done :) The first one I did, passenger front door, it was a pain in the but. The glue didnt roll out like the other doors.. It was a fight to remove even with the 3M stuff. After that, all other 3 doors were super easy.

I also blacked out the chrome mirrors. I will take picture of the Jeep later

Thanks mate. I will also upgrade fog lights to hid or led. Is there a way to disable drl without going to dealer?

So I went wet sanding and polishing the rear plate, and I was unhappy with the result... So i bought a real Altitude rear plate.

I just received my TYC headlights. ready to bake them and open them. I am still waiting for my morimoto retrofit kit though. Plan is to paint the inside black. I am tempted to paint the projector shrouds in red... and put some tow hooks in red on the front... and matching the calipers, not sure yet.. will decide later. I want to be different :)

today was my first tow experience with it. I have a big trailer... double axle. The jeep is ok with it.. though borderline. I will miss the 5.7L hemi here. When you tow with the 3.6L, it averages at 20L/100km.. about the same as when I was towing with the 5.7L

The Hemi is so much a nicer engine to tow with. I only tow like 5-6 times a year so it will be ok. but for someone who needs to tow often... HEMI is the way to go

A bit of progress on the retrofit. I decided to paint inner part too.. and not only the outer part as the Altitude version. The shrouds I am putting on the projectors are 4.9" wide so they will cover all low beam reflector, so I painted everything black. I have an extra right side headlight assembly, so the black on the inner part is a test for now. I have not done the right headlight yet. I want to compare them with the projector installed to see which one I prefer.

until my other parts arrive, I keep on blacking it out. I have the 20" chrome, but wanted to see how it would look with all black wheels... so I plati-dipped them. I will see the final result tomorow. I took the time to paint the calipers, because they were starting to corrode again. It will look cleaner like that, until I buy the mopar covers.

turned out pretty good i think :)

next i will receive my projectors, my HID kit, my 1.25" spacers, my rear Altitude panel, my winter mopar floor mats, my shark antenna, and the side Grand Cherokee badge in chrome. I was hesitant to buy it black, but i bought it chrome.. i might plasti-dip if I dont like it. :)

stay tuned :)

I have received the mini 2.5 Projectors. Pretty cool projectors. I still havent received the bigger angel eyes shroud that will cover all the reflector, but I started moding the assembly to fit the projectors.

I had to trim arround the hole to make it fit.. and also dremel a place where the shield wire and angel eyes wire will go through:

I also had to dremel the inside of the reflector so I have enough threads in the back to lock it in place. I only needed like 1 or 2mm more.

Finally in place and secured:

I also didnt like the fact that the shield was grey, and it was giving the projector a grey look.. so I disassembled them and painted the shield... evil eyes :p

I have chosen to go with caliper paint to handle the heat of the HID

They are currently drying, so I will show you a pic of the projector re-assembled tonight

today I received my winter floor mats Mopar :D

Also got my 1.5 wheel spacers. They didnt supply the good spacers. The lugs on the spacers are smaller than the one on the hub on the jgc. Those spacers are for JKs, but no big deal..

I didnt have a smal enough socket so I fabricate/grinded to be able to bolt it there. There is plenty onough of meat on the socket to be strong enough for impact.
