My Project

Hi, a couple of weeks ago i wrote a thread asking about the use of duplicolor and other stuff but nobody answered so i started working.
This is what i did....
Fist i bought Duplicolor custom wrap in two colors, black and red and started taping off the lines on the hood for marking the exact trailhawk hood decal in this material. This was a PITA just because unbelievably there is not no 1/8 tape in my country and me and a painter had to work with normal size tape to make the lines and it it extremely difficult to make curve angles in this size tape.. long story short, we made the outlines with this tape, it was OK. Then when i started painting the red lines on the outside i realized that you leave duplicolor until dry to tape of the tape then the tape lifts the edges of the duplicolor and it does not work. I also found out (shame on me) that once i had the red duplicolor i had to tape of the red one to put the black one and in duplicolor you can not place tape on top of it because it will peel off. So all that work for nothing. So i went to a friend to make the decal in vinyl and here it came great. He searched for the wk2 blueprint and in a computer software designed the decal in minutes. I went to the store and bought yards of black and red. This cost 20 bucks. He then placed each color in the cutting machine and it came out great. Then another guy made the installation for other 25 bucks. Total for the hood decal 45 bucks. With so many left over vinyl i told him to do some racing strips of 4 inches wide to place on each side one red and one black. This is only because i did not want to spend 200 on this decal online.

Then came again the duplicolor use, i made the mirrors, tow hooks (without removing), gas cap and a D-Ring in red. Then i did the grill, door handles back jeep chrome, jeep logo in front and side chromes grand cherokee in black.

Then i took of the black trail rated badge and placed in a red one and a small trailhawk badge just under it. And in the back the large normal trail rated badge.

Finally the tires, i had Nitto terra grapplers for 50k kilometers and it as time to change so i bought the Duratracs which in my opinion has the more aggressive look in 275/55/20. This tires have had more compliments in
2 weeks than in all 3 years of the nitto.

Next up will be the rims, got to have some time to do this....they will be in black duplicolor.

Re: My Project

Clean job. Looks like it would hold up. Definitely not into myself since I like the blacked out look. But, nice job!
