Re: MY12 MG Overland CRD...clean and dirty

Just opened the bonnet (hood for some of you.....hehe) to check on something as I'm due for a service very soon and to top up my windscreen washer.
Shows that I haven't opened it for a few weeks....

Will be hitting it today with the high pressure cleaner methinks..

yikes - thats dusty.

Whenever we have been off road it seems to rain, so no dust for me yet.

Amazing to think that it was originally built as a movie set too..
As in, "The Man From Snowy River"? If so, that's beyond awesome!

And awesome ride, BTW.

Re: MY12 MG Overland CRD...clean and dirty

Decided to experiment with some plasti-dip.
I will still paint the chrome pieces body colour, but in the meantime...

Rear brow

Front grill
Before

And after..

Plasti dip isn't 100% dry so it looks a little patchy. It's rather cold here ATM, doesn't help with the drying process.

That grill does look pretty sick. Nice work.

Re: MY12 MG Overland CRD...clean and dirty

OK, so it's school holidays here ATM so I thought I'd have a day off and get my 12yo off the Xbox.
My assistant..

All masked up..

End result..

He stayed with me most of the way through it, had to help him a couple of times to re-focus.
In the end he reckons it looks awesome (as do I) and he had a lot of fun too.

Re: MY12 MG Overland CRD...clean and dirty

Wheels look great . What paint did you use?

I was going to do my rims in gloss 3m wrap.

What's next? The lower chrome air damn?

Re: MY12 MG Overland CRD...clean and dirty

Next I'm thinking of painting the chrome side mouldings in body colour and painting the Grand Cherokee lettering black before I clear coat them and then re-fit them to the car. If that works out then I'll strip off the plasti-dip and body colour the grill and rear brow.
Then the chrome window trims, front lower airdam and rear step pieces will be blacked out.

I used Sikkens paint in Jeep Brilliant Black colour.

Sweet shots, esp the river entry.
