Re: New JCG, again!

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee...have not had it in for a single thing except oil changes, scheduled maintenance and a new battery (expected life on that). Not one darn thing ever...I have been impressed especially since it is a loaded Limited 4x4 V8.

Are there any other people having these problems or do you just have the midas touch?

That new part may have been added to the newer Jeeps for the reasons of the problems that cost554 had. Not saying that The other guys Jeep ingested water but it could have been Chrysler covering their asses just in case.

Re: New JCG, again!

^that extra gate/blocker looks a bit odd and appears that it may actually restrict air intake, can't tell just from the photo?

without the new piece, air channels into the front gap between the hood and grille/face, angles right around the rubber hood snow gasket, and then angles left into the air intake. this presumably keeps out moisture and other stuff, but lets air flow. does this new piece/gate require air to be forced under the hood snow gasket to get to the intake scoop?

thanks in advance, will try to take a look at recent builds on a dealer lot.

We'll see what the Service department has to say on Monday. All the problems have really taken the shine off the ownership experience.

doesnt matter...no one here has any idea if thats true or not....although more than likely...LOL. It could have been put there because too much air was getting in......LOL

Re: New JCG, again!

It sounds like something as simple as a loose connector or possibly a bad module corrupting the CAN BUS data stream. They should be able to isolate and resolve fairly quickly. OTOH, it could be something that will clear with a system reset. Mine went completely dead the 2nd day I had it but disconnecting the battery to reset the entire vehicle systems solved my issue.

Had you done anything to the vehicle since it was built like have the dealer add any accessories?

A hand wash and some gas, that's it. I checked for loose grounds and connections and found none under the hood. I hope it'll be as simple as that.

Air flows into the grill and up through the slots which end up right behind the weather strip.
