Scott,
I drove that damn Jeep 700 miles, with water in the intake, due to no seal on the hood and no foam diverter. The engine blew, and I was without a vehicle for 2 months. I really don't care if you believe it or not- I was the one who was there. Obviously, I got Chrysler's attention, since they are adding band-aids to their intake design. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and go buy a 2011 and do some stream fording to see how well it does!

So now....you were "stream forming"......lol....I knew the truth would come out!!!!!!! Now way that hitting puddles caused water ingestion.

Re: New JCG, again!

No I wasn't Stream Fording you clown -- I told you to try to do what the Jeep Commercials show on the 2011's- There obviously is a design problem with this intake, and more than one way to add band-aids for a fix. I don't even know why your on this posting since you obviously don't have a 2011.

Not sure about that. It looks to me that air flows between hood and upper radiator shelf to the snorkel vs. through the grill. The rubber strip on driver's side hood funnels air around the snorkel intake and takes two turns to perhaps alleviate solids from getting to the intake - the snow gasket.

Meanwhile, the intake gutters down to the bottom of the first stage intakee, air then flows up through the filter, and then into the second stage box and into the throttle body. While it appears that it would take a ton of water to fill the filter box and get up into the TB, if it filled up suppose it could happen.

All that said, it still looks like this new gate/diverter shown in the first post might restrict air intake. Not sure, but that's my gut looking at this.

Stock snorkel, snow gasket mounted to hood sits down in front of this snorkle.

Snow gasket mounted to drivers side hood that sits in front of snorkel.

Yellow shows where hood gasket sits down on radiator shelf in front of snorkel.

Re: New JCG, again!

Zero, sorry for your challenges, hope it works out.

FWIW, I facked up and bought a third FOBIK from a private party that turned out to be bad. When my dealer went to program this key it ended up somehow frying the PEM in my vehicle to the point where the keyless entry and ignition functions would not work. The dealer first replaced the FOBIK with a new one and then ultimately replaced the PEM at no cost to me despite it being my fault. All is good. Hope you get similar relief.

Hmm, to me it looked like the strip closed in front of the slots not behind. Either way the engine must be getting sufficient air.

Sorry AAAA, not my intent to do so. If anything, I'm focused on getting the best performance out of the WK2 like any vehicle, and am only questioning this new gate piece shown in post number one. Unlike other posters here, I've had absolutely no issues with this vehicle other than the Fobik case mentioned above which was my fault. Jeep handled it no questions.

I've already replaced the stock intake with the Bwoody Velocity Ram intake and am fully confident in the performance and water protection. If you live in a wet environment or will be doing some wet trail features, then use the dry sack cover that goes over the filter for the Bwoody.
