Hello All,

Totally new to the Jeep world and I'm avidly searching here for things to do to the Jeep. It was actually purchased for my wife after we sold our X5. Have to Say, being a big BMW guy it was a hard pill to swallow leaving BMW and going to Jeep but so far I'm absolutely thrilled with this car. Haven't done much yet to it in terms of mods except lighting. May add some running boards and swap out the wheels for now, but it pretty much has everything I can ask for. Looking forward to learning more about this beast. Car had 4000 miles on the clock. Original owner never drove it I guess. Cheers

Re: New Member: 2015 Bright White/ Auburn Int. Grand Cherokee Summit Series

Thanks for the warm welcome fam! I regret to inform that this weekend I was victim of an incident where the good guy gets screwed over. SMH

Long story short that my wife rear ended another car. ( I was in the passenger seat )

Without going into too much detail this is what happened and I'll let you all be the judge. For what it's worth I'm an LEO and I know I'm not gonna win this one even tho the other party's really just plain stupid

  • Sunday morning
  • heavy rain/ wet roads
  • entering freeway via onramp
  • speed approx 25 MPH
  • approx 20 feet between the front end of our jeep and rear end of lead vehicle.
  • Lead vehicle slams on breaks for no apparent reason
  • My wife panics and slams on breaks; skid for about 15 feet and collide with rear end of lead car.
  • no injuries (except my damn heart and )
I advised the driver (asian lady....) to pull over to the shoulder. When I asked her what happened she apologized and said "I thought it was a week day and the metering lights were working to enter the freeway". In the most calm and passive aggressive manner I explained to the lady it was Sunday and pointed to the metering light advising they do not operate during the weekend. SMH

Anyways. like I said. As much as I wish the onus was going to be on her I'm about 99% certain it will fall on us. Insurance will most likely put us at blame for one of 2 causes
  1. following too closely or
  2. unsafe speed

I already got an estimate to fix the damage to the jeep and it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Roughly 1800-2k to fix. Replacing the front upper and lower bumper cover, trim and one PDC sensor.

Anyways. My rant is over. Drive safe out there. Hopefully good Karma comes by our way.

I know posts are useless w/o pics so here they are. Plan is to drop the car off at the shop like yesterday!
Semper

Damn, that sucks but the main point is that nobody was hurt. I agree, you'll more than likely be 100% at fault, typically what happens with you rear end someone.

I feel your pain with this situation, not even a year ago in my RAM 1500, I t-boned a girl who was waived through a huge line of traffic, without looking she just gunned it across 4 lanes of oncoming traffic, and I happened to be the one on the business end of it. The extent of the damage was pretty severe, and the police report stated she was 100% at fault, but it took 9 months of fighting with insurance (they put me at 50/50 with her) to get reimbursed for $5k worth of damage.
