Re: Pictures!!

^^Every vehicle I have owned has had painted rockers and I have had minimal to no chipping. My car right now is 3 inches off the ground....2 years this way no chipping.

I understand the point, but in the past and on other vehicles, it has never stopped them. Them not painting them means I basically have an additional $1,000 to spend immediately to make it, in my opinion, how it should have been from the factory.

I suppose it depends on what the intended use is. The Cayenne / Touareg and Land Rovers have the molded plastic rockers on most models. I use these as an example because of all of the SUV's out there these are the only ones that combine serious luxury with the ability to do serious offroad work. Everything else, IMHO are glorified minivans and have no offroad pretense what so ever.

Very true. I think the overland, being luxury, should have had them painted. I still love them though, just would love them more painted.

I got a darker colored Overland so maybe the black plastic isn't that big of a deal to me.. but, I would've wanted them anyway as I think they will hold up better in the long run, especially for me. That being said, they should maybe offer the plastic, along with rock rails, as part of the off-road pkgs in addition to what they offer now in those pkgs.

No such thing as a "random" Jeep pic. They are all taken in a conscious and premeditated (or occasionally impulsive) desire to capture and memorialize the freshness of our sweet rides. Or something like that.

Keep 'em coming, chibianh!

Re: Pictures!!

In the head-on picture it looks like the Amber reflector is still in the drivers side headlight. Is it just an illusion? I do not see an Amber reflector in the passenger side pic.

I'm diggin the once-chrome, now painted grille...

Sorry, I know I violated the intent of the thread... but everyone else was doing it

Re: Pictures!!

took the scenic route home from work today.. even though it adds an extra 15 miles or so onto my drive home, i try to take it once every few weeks as long as there's sunlight out. I was hoping there'd be some snow, but it looks like the recent heat has melted it!

Re: Pictures!!

Nice pics and something different for a change. The beast looks good in its native environment, just as it should be!

Re: Pictures!!

CHIBIANH.... Wow, my "scenic route home" consists of a two lane 30-mph road instead of the six-lane, 60-mph highway. There are a few really BIG potholes though .

Re: Pictures!!

Awesome pics all around, folks. You're certainly moving the needle towards a Jeep as my next purchase.

chibianh - What crossbars do you have mounted up there? Love the look. Do they drop MPGs much?
