The Window trim is tough. Just make sure to do two light coats then 2 heavy ones. I also used the glossifier. A buddy did most of it cuz I kept messing up. But, it's peeling up in a few places because while pulling off the over spray I didn't use an exacto or anything so I probably didn't have it wrapped all the way around the lip. Going to try it one more time and if it doesn't work I'm thinking about vinyl wrapping the Window trim.

Thank you sir.. Ever since I saw the altitude of the wk2 model I wanted one that was blacked out... However, when I started looking into it after having an acura tl, the overland is what I wanted. Trying for the best of both!

Nice.

I think if I ever had a wk2, it would look exactly like yours.

Re: Plasti Dip black out!

Anyone have any input on what to do with the roof rack? Choices are leave it chrome along with the tow hooks, plasti dip black like most of the rest of the chrome, or plasti dip RED for something different, like the calipers! Just tossing ideas around in my head so i figured I'd toss them on JG.

I think you should paint the roof rack black as well as the tow hooks. It would look sweet.

Re: Plasti Dip black out!

Recently attempted dipping the window trim on mine the last two weekends, both ending with me messing up a tiny portion and having to redo the entire thing...not nearly as simple as the emblems and back taillight chrome trim.

I'm going to give it one more go this next weekend and if I can't get it perfect like I want, I'm giving up. So much wasted tape and effort, only to rip it off in less than a few minutes.

Me thinks an exacto will be the key, as mentioned above.

I'm planning to mask them off when I plasti-dip the rest of the rims or I'll have to go back and cut them out if I don't mask them off. Hope that makes sense.

Ram4whldr, yes we are talking about the aerosol product. "Rubber" in a spray can.
What is the brand name of the "Rubber" plasti-dip that you are referring to. I have no idea what it is.

Re: Plasti Dip black out!

If I am correct the actual name of the product is Plasti-Dip.

Re: Plasti Dip black out!

When Plasti-Dipping your window trim, you need to lift the tape when your last coat is still wet (this would be on the "window side" of the chrome trim). Don't mess with an Exacto knife around your paint.

Go to YouTube: for a demo of the method with a Tesla S.

Right on. That is really helpful and I must have missed this newer video they made about doing the trim.

I may have another go at it this weekend.

Thanks for the advice!
