Re: Plasti Dip Photos/Mods

I'd really like to do this to the chrome trim around the windows, but I don't think I can tape it off good enough.

Yea I wanted to also, but like you said it would be tough to tape perfectly. I've seen people post pics on this forum but never close ups...My wheels have some chrome in them so I can get away with keeping the chrome trim on the windows but I might just do the door moldings.

Not sure *exactly* how this would work with windows/chrome, but this is part of the beauty of Plasti-Dip... you DON'T TAPE right up to the line, as long as there's an edge. The rubber will naturally pull away and leave what you want.

Example Video from the Master:

That's a good video. I may have to give that a shot on mine soon.

Re: Plasti Dip Photos/Mods

I've ordered a couple of cans to do the window trim, I tried vinyl wrap like Scot did but it didn't go we'll, I'm sure a professional could do it but I gave it my best shot and failed, plasti dip it is for me.

Dipped the side mirror and front emblem on my 2014 Overland. I also did the strip on the rear. Next is that nasty crap on the front bottom.

Here's a link to mine. Didn't bother removing anything just masked it all off.

Re: Plasti Dip Photos/Mods

Here are the photos I took and posted to another thread, showing my plasti dip work. Some up close shots of the finish too, but I missed getting photos during the window trim process. I followed the above video for guidance and it worked well...after the second try that is.

Black or Chrome Window Trim Opinions?

Re: Plasti Dip Photos/Mods

I actually just did the side mirrors, grille, roof rails, and bottom part of the bumper this past weekend. Turned out awesome. I was WAY too lazy to remove the grille so I said screw it and just painted it while it was on the Jeep. So far no problems with overspray behind. All I did was tape everything off, and rub some alcohol to remove any dirt and then put about 3-5 coats on. Any more questions just let me know.
