None that I know of (legally), other than Pismo...if others exist I would like to know also! Always had fun driving on Daytona and New Smyrna beaches when I lived in Central FL.

Smitty, you can get there by boat and use the beach, but the bird lovers got a federal judge to block a small section in the middle of Oregon inlet that prevents you from driving to one of the most beautiful beach spots I've ever seen, the point. What a shame.

Re: Sand domination @ Oregon inlet

Thanks for this thread. I was wondering if the 20's would be able to handle the beach here on Long Island. Was paranoid about the small sidewalls. Was thinking about getting a set of 18's anyway for the winter and sand stuff. Great pics!!

Thanks for the info. I am headed to the obx for the first time in about a week. We rented a house on the beach in nags head...any suggestions on places to setup on the beach while we are there? Also, do you have any good restaurant suggestions. We will be driving all over.

IMO, the best food is in the duck/corolla area. My personal fave is mike diannas grill room. it's a little bit of a hike from nags but the food is worth it. Beautifull setting too. For breakfast you HAVE to go to stack em high. Ignore the long line, it moves fast and once you get your food you'll know why the long line was there in the first place. They are in nags and KDH. For desert I strongly recommend kill devils frozen custard and beach fries. Top notch fatty food.

Beachfront is awesome, I'd set up right off the back porch if it were me. But if you want to conquer the dunes hit Oregon inlet or further south down hwy 12. Great beaches just outside of salvo, Avon, buxton and hatteras village. All are equally awesome for fishing, surfing, swimming & beach driving. If you want a bigger sand driving challenge head to corova. be careful down there though. The jeep can do it as long as there is zero user error.

The towns on hatteras island are a lot less commercialized than nags head and KDH but still very nice. No big crowds and pretty much no noise other than the ocean when on the beach, here's a pic of how few people are around us today....

I see/feel no difference vs the 18's on my old 08 limited GC. The 20's are not a liability IMO.

If you go in the winter, many beach access restrictions are lifted. One great beach for wheeling is on Ocracoke Island during the winter. It's a ferry ride from Hatteras.

Hey Dub. Looks like you had great weather. Good for you.
Check out Sam and Omies a bar at Whale Bone Junction at the most southern part of Nags Head. Best clam chowder, cold beer and a good juke box.

I like that place too. Also, The Blue Pointe is someplace we really like. (in Duck) And talk about a pain driving there from where we stay. (approx 9 miles up the beach after the road stops)

Awful Arthur's in Kill Devil Hills is a fun place. Not the most creative menu, but always a good time.
