They do not hang below the vehicle, thus there is no clearance loss issues for off-roading. The bracket mounts to the rail and come out, maybe Ill try to snap some pictures.

5.7Unlimited is just really nice
Re: Side Steps install completed w/pics

I was never a fan of side steps no one actually steps on them, the difference is like 2 inches. All that happens is they get dirty and when you get out of your vehicle you get the back of your pant leg dirty because they stick out.

They came in handy today, being black we all know its a PIA, Im pretty sure Ive wiped it clean 2x daily, but to get to the roof the steps are pretty useful I applied BlackFire sealant today and had to windex the command view to keep it clean. Im not sure if this design of side step is any different then previous models but it doesn't seem to protrude outwards an extraordinary amount. It hugs the body pretty close.

Your side steps look really nice with Black Jeep!

Does anyone know if the Mopar Moulded Running Boards with Chrome inserts are available yet for the WK2?

Re: Side Steps install completed w/pics

I like them and the function is great for kids climbing in, plus if you need roof access (storage or cleaning), they are big help.

Then when getting out, she pivots on the seat and puts both feet on the step while using the grab handle to step down.

Re: Side Steps install completed w/pics

For vehicles that sit higher off the ground, ie. pickups, they are very functional. For hardcore JGC off-roaders, not an option. But for the urban Jeeper and occasional novice off-roader, they look great and are very functional as well.

Let me give you some examples. When you are getting your vehicle detailed and the person cleaning your vehicle is trying to clean the roof or windshield, guess where they stand? On the side step, not your clean door sill.

If you are ever stuck in the mud, and yes it happens, guess where you stand before you jump ship? Maybe that's a little extreme.

And when you might be shuttling your 60 yr old in-laws around. Guess what gets them in and out, fast?

Maybe this is what Sport mode is also for, but nontheless, they still look great.
