My wife has black satin replicas on her BMW for winter and I got her car coated with Cquartz Finest when it was new and the summer/winter rims as well. It made a huge difference on how much the brake dust clung to her wheels. She still gets a lot of brake dust as BMWs are notorious for it, but it's easy to clean off even with the satin finish wheels.

I had the Opti-Coat Pro on my Ford F150 and my wheels were super easy to keep clean because of the coating.

Does coating them make them appear to look glossy? Or does it still look matte/satin after a protective coating is applied?

The coating looks the same after it's applied. It doesn't change the look of what it's applied to.

Any suggestions on what wheel cleaner to use on summit wheels? These wheels are polished wheels and not coated, some of these cleaners warn away from using them on polished wheels.

if you want something that can be bought at a local store then go with Griots HD wheel cleaner or Sonax full effect wheel cleaner.

Solution:
Meguiars Wheel Brightener is a professional grade wheel cleaner for factory coated wheels! Meguiars wheel cleaner and brightener makes coated wheels

Spray Bottle (for proper dilution ratio):
32 oz. Meguiars Wheel Brightener Bottle
I've had mine for a few years now.

Soap: Chemical Guys Mr. Pink

Rims: Meguiars Wheel Brightener (4:1 ratio)

Tires, Wheel wells, undercarriage, under hood: Meguiars Super Degreaser (5:1 ratio)

Interior: Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner (10:1 ratio)

Tires: Chemical Guys VRP dressing

Of course i have an assortment of brushes dedicated for certain jobs and also have a dedicated wash bucket (3 gallon) for the wheels and one for the body with a grit guard (5 gallon).

Most car washes take me about 2hours. Including a foam treatment using my Karcher pressure washer & MTM foaming lance, an interior vacuum and an exterior blow drying with an electric leaf blower... yes a leaf blower

Hahaha....most of my neighbours look at me like I'm a lunatic when I break out the leaf blower, but for the smart ones the light bulb will go off.
