Re: * Skunkd's 2015 White GC Altitude *

Look forward to seeing the final product. Been really liking the other pics floating around and I'm fairly tempted to pull the trigger on these soon. You'll have to give us a run down of what you think, once they are all in and you're back up and running.

Excuse me for being naive, as I am new to these DRL/LED type lights (don't have them on my model). Is the LED strip powered by a bulb(s) that can just be replaced if they burn out? Similar to a regular head light. Or does the strip need to be replaced?

Re: * Skunkd's 2015 White GC Altitude *

The strip is merely a fiber optic pathway to project the light. At the start of it is an LED bulb. They can be replaced by a professional shop but typically not by a consumer unless they have experience soldering new led's in and separating headlights/resealing them. LED have an insanely long life expectancy... Typically much longer than the life of a car. So unless they were defective or not sealed correctly they should never need to be replaced. This is another reason why I sealed the lights with clear silicone all the way around the lens and housing (where they meet) you can see the clear silicone (GE branded clear silicone typically used for windows / kitchen / door / trim etc) in my pics above drying inside the headlight if you look for it. This will prevent any moisture from entering since aftermarket lights don't always have great seals from the factory.

I will update all of you tomorrow when I get them in and the bumper back on in the morning!

I cant wait to see them installed and fired up!

As far as warranty goes it really depends on the dealer and if they are willing to help you out and not report any aftermarket products installed. You just need to be real careful with what you install.

Unfortunately my last dealer was a real POS and reported to STAR i had HID's and LED fog bulbs installed. Granted it did not void any warranty or deny any service work, however it did draw a lot of attention and automatic blame for the problems i was having. In the end i wound up having my 2014 replaced with a 2015 Altitude fully loaded, max care lifetime (zero deductible) and 7yr road hazard... all at no cost to me.

Wheel spacers and Sylvania H11 bulbs are the furthest i will go as far as aftermarket parts.

Just incase you guys were wondering what silicone I used to seal the lights. This can be found at Home Depot etc. or online at Amazon. It's good for temps -60 to 400 degrees once cured. You can install them about ~30 min after applying the silicone as it is dry to the touch by then and it can continue to cure while on the car afterwards.

Go over and make sure everything is sealed up I did the whole light now nothing will get in through the housing because of a crappy seal job from eagle eyes. Always best to do it before you install so you don't have to do this all over again if for some reason you do get condensation. The reviews on these lights have been really solid and no one has complained about the seal but I always like to be 100% sure and seal them up myself. Doesn't hurt and dries clear. It is not in an area that you can see once the bumper is back on anyway so you don't have to be a pro to do it.

Thanks for all the warranty info. Getting mine soon so wanted a little background for when I start doing a few of these mods myself. Can't wait to see them installed.

I highly recommend replacing the 2 rivets per side holding the wheel arches to the bumper with these old fashion nylon retainers it will make your life so much easier.

Also to get the push rivets out of the fender liner use a hammer and center punch to knock the pin through til you can pull it out or use a 3/32 drill bit and a low profile drill to drill through the center of it.

Replacing those with these pictured above means no more headaches should u need access to the fog lights or removing the bumper again and they are reusable unlike the plastic rivets that came on the car from the factory.

You need 4 total so two packs will do I got these at advance auto but I'm sure u can find them at most auto shops.
