I basically posted this exact thought a few months ago. There is nothing you can do in an SRT8 Jeep that you can't do faster in a sports sedan. The entire concept makes no sense to me.

Ford smartened up and instead of offering an SVT Lightning started building the Raptor. People that buy trucks want a different kind of performance.

I posted more or less that exact comment a few months ago and was quickly beaten back by the SRT8 owners club.

I would have thought an off road oriented SRT8 would have been so sweet. Instead we get another useless tweener car...not really a performance machine and not really a Jeep.

Re: Spy Shots: SRT8

I noticed they updated WK2Jeeps.com and added new info about the new SRT8. What caught my eye the most was this:

-LED Front footwell Lamps
-LED Daytime Running Lamps
-LED Taillamps

Now I cant wait to see it. I wonder if these are just normal changes that every 2012 will get or just the SRT8. I sooooo wish the 2011 got some sort of fancier tail light assembly. LED footwell lighting would also be very nice to go with the rest of the LED lights in the WK2. I dont know what the LED DRL thing means if the headlight is completely different or what.

JTS, you can do footwell lighting and the DRL's with new bulbs in a pretty easy install.

Recall that a JG member posted threads here using Putco bulbs as have I for the DRL's. I think member whateverworks has a few great threads here including tails.

Others recently posted footwell LED's, which can either be strips tied into the cupholder wiring for full time lighting or via the footwell dome lights which only light up with door opening.

I wish the Harmon Kardon audio option was available on the Summit.

Yeah I know but for some reason I have always been into OEM stuff. Like I assume the SRT8 wont just have a LED bulb plugged into a DRL socket. So I assume they are going to have a little fancier LED setup in there. Maybe not as drastic as say the new Audi's you see out there, but something along those lines. So what im saying, is not just a LED retrofit bulb in place of the standard bulb.

As for the footwell LED's, same thing. I know they make a mopar kit for this but I dont want some crazy kit with a strip of LED's and a dimmer and color controller. My 07 Acura TL-S for example has 1 tiny red LED in each foot well that gives a perfect ambient light in complete dark conditions. Looks amazing! Hopefully this is what they do in the SRT8 and similar to how they light up the door storage pockets in the current Grand Cherokee.
I always like retrofitting OEM stuff that mine doesnt come with. I can assure you the first second OEM tail lights become available im going to be the first one to have them on my 2011

James
