Re: The Summit has landed!

OK Dan - get your butt out of the driver's seat long enough to post a pic or two and tell us your experience! We're curious what happened with the trade-in. We want to know just how much of a rush it was finally seeing YOUR Summit.

Spill bub!

Re: The Summit has landed!

I just rented one while in Wichita this week. Laredo V6 and loved it. I can get over the turning radius on this thing. Turns really tight!
Hoping to see mine in a couple of weeks if they stick to there d1 schedule......

Can't wait for pics, don't leave us hanging! Mine (also black) just went D1...4/4 scheduled delivery can't come soon enough - assuming transit times are real... Need some eye candy to help pass the time!

Re: The Summit has landed!

Just got back home.....sorry for the delay. The dealer is about an hour away...so got there about 1:00 p.m. The salesperson was waiting and a bit worried since it was unloaded from the truck this morning and she had to fight people to not get their paws on it (she kept it locked and kept both keys!). When she called me this morning at 10:00 a.m. it still needed dealer prep, etc. so she said to give them an hour or two but wanted to let me know ASAP.

There was also a natural green Overland with saddle (sold order too) that was delivered this morning too. She had them park my Summit and the natural green Overland in the back of the building away from the showroom, etc. to keep people away from them as they were both sold orders which was under an overhang so they were in the shade. First, I'll comment on the natural green.....in the shade it looks very dark green...very dark....but then when in was in the bright sun it was a gorgeous metallic green with contrasts that remind me of how the blackberry color changes. This is the first time I really looked at the natural green...and I was impressed....loved how the color really varied in the different lighting conditions....dark in the shadow area and a gorgeous green in the bright sun.

The dealer had it all prepped nicely....no dealer sticker even and just a dealer frame plate which is good for now with the cardboard temp plate (I'll remove it later, no biggie).

The Summit with brilliant black exterior is really really stunning. It just all flows together perfectly.

Here are two quick picks that I took when stopped for a quick bite at Chic-Fil-A (more photos to come when I take them soon....was a really busy day...will explain).

Re: The Summit has landed!

The dealer had the vehicle ready when I arrived so that was nice. When the salesperson took me to see the vehicle there was a family (husband, wife, and around a 15 y.o son) who were in that area looking at vehicles and of course were attracted to my Summit and the natural green Overland...I had just unlocked my Summit and they were practically climbing in before I even sat in it! Needless to say I started to talk with them about the GC's and how nice they are and had to drop how excited I was to finally get my Summit after ordering it 3 months ago...I think they realized they better not climb in since it was mine! LOL They certainly liked it and especially like the full Saddle interior. I took it for a short test drive (only had 5 miles on it) and checked the interior and under the hood (yep, has the hood gasket and diverter to protect the air intake). The exterior and interior were flawless. It drives more solidly and more luxurious than my 2005 GC Limited 4x4 V8 Hemi. I put 150 or so miles on it today.

Re: The Summit has landed!

Dan,

Really nice Jeep. I went to the dealership last Sunday and didn't see much difference between the regular Overland 20" wheels and the Summit 20" wheels, but only because the Jeeps were dirty and parked really close to each other. Seeing those rims in your pictures really shows how nice those polished wheels are on the Summit.

Re: The Summit has landed!

My Summit and the natural green Overland were the two highest priced GC's on the dealers lot (and they were both sold orders!)....it is a "higher end" dealership so I think it is a matter of demand outstripping their supply. Just thought I'd mention this since some people have posted that there are a lot of high end GC's on dealer lots....not really in my area there aren't....

I'm glad I got the BRIGHT polished rims versus the early Summits with the polished rims which I had seen earlier...there is definitely a bigger contrast with the BRIGHT polished rims compared to the painted rims...not as much of a difference between the polished rims and the painted rims.

Re: The Summit has landed!

I swear, there HAS to be a simpler paperwork process. Why so many forms are hand filled in when my info is already in their system and printed on other forms is beyond me....Jeep (Chrysler) needs a good knowledge management system so streamline all this stuff. Even with no financing it took over two hours in all.

Did the whole trade-in price dance....in the end, I kept my 2005 and will sell it myself...no hard feelings with the dealer about this. They did low ball at first which was "the best they could do". I said no. I then showed my NADA and KBB printouts timestamped from this morning....the salesperson then asked if it had ever been in an accident (didn't they ask that before?)....I also brought copies of the major service record (30K service, new tires, etc.). They bumped it up a grand from their previous best offer. In the meantime the sales manager stopped by me and we chatted a bit and he thought NADA trade-in prices would be fair but he isn't in charge of that part. They didn't get to the NADA prices so I just said well then I won't trade it in and will just buy the Summit...OK moved on from that....why that took an hour, I don't know.

The sales person was going back and forth with all the different hand filled out paperwork...and mind you this is a very modern dealership facility...really a top of the line facility and they still have all these forms where you hand write in the same info....very inefficient for sure.
