New to Maryland, need inspection!

Anyone know of Maryland Inspection station around Annapolis who will pass my car with my taillights smoked? I know its fine, only has 9500 miles on it. I had it at the dealer for a TSB and they told me it wouldn't pass there. Help me out fellow MD jeepers

Tail lights covered with something?
Or tail lights deader than a doornail?

Dead lights would flunk any state.
"decorated" lights might pass, but you might want to check your DMV web or just ask the dealer if you are flunked, what is your recourse?

It might be cheaper to pick up a cheap set of replacement lights long enough to get you thru inspection if someone has just decorated them a bit too much. You still might be subject to "I don't like your looks, so here is a chicken**** ticket for improper tail lights" encounters...

Ok to give you the straight up answer without dragging it out. The tint law is the lights must be visible from a certain distance so if you are within that law your good to go.

However my friend in MD just got pulled over for tinted tails and recieved a ticket to remove them. He had film over them and they were pretty hard to see during the day

Thanks, they work fine, i've just tinted the lenses. They appear stock and most people wouldn't know that they are modified unless they are jeep freaks...like most of us on here..

There aren't cheap replacement lights, but if i can't find a place to pass it i may have to bite the bullet and buy some regardless, this is what i'm trying to avoid.

Re: New to Maryland, need inspection!

Little late, I know. But to clarify the MD law the lights only have to reflect from side and rear (red) and front sides (Amber). If you go to an auto parts store and get some reflective tape put on the lights for inspection, you could remove it afterward. The tape would satisfy the requirement. The reason smoke lights don't pass is because you inhibit their reflective ability.
