Hmmmm, I'm thinking getting a custom made tap will cost more than this is worth.

My initial thoughts are simply having it slip neatly over the rod, and having a grub screw near the base out of sight. This assumes of course that the door trim could be re-fitted with the knob attached.

I solved the thread problem today. I cut my own thread to fit the

rod. I ground a threading tool and with some trial end error for

fitment I got it. I made them much shorter than the stock plastic piece. I don't see any reason it has to be that long
