Its only like 10 bolts, plus the 4 that hold down the fuel rails, a few vacuum hoses, and 1 electrical connector (plus the 8 injector ones).

Plus, its a good excuse for a Port job.
Thanks Mike, appreciate it!

Re: BT Clear Catch Can & new antenna

I have twin cans on my truck now. I found that just the one for the PCV really isn't enough. My air filter ended up soaked with oil.

We (me and AJ) determined that with the heads/cam/Arrington/etc, there was a huge vacuum being created in the intake tube and it was literally sucking oil out of the valve cover breather.

Its crazy how bad the oiling system was designed on these new Hemis.

Re: BT Clear Catch Can & new antenna

Mike-

I have 60k miles on the Jeep and I just put a catch can on today but I didn't clean the manifold or anything like that. Will the can eventually clean the mani out or should I still find time to clean it like you said.

Thanks.

Re: BT Clear Catch Can & new antenna

Definetly plan on removing and cleaning it as soon as possible. Eventually the oil will cook and turn to sludge on the intake ports. I started a port job on a manifold today and the ports are completely sludgy and gross. And you can't wash the sludge off. Its like molasses. Needs to be ground off with a Dremel. Not a big deal on the 6.1 if you're porting it anyway, but since the 5.7s have a plastic manifold, it may not be possible. Maybe a flapper wheel would work, not sure.

Because the catch can is now installed, or just b/c of normal wear over time?

Re: BT Clear Catch Can & new antenna

i opened up my catch can last night, 3 months after i installed it on my 2010 srt. i wish i could explain to you how gross it looked, not to mention how full the catch can was. it sludged up on the bottom, i have to really dig into it and remove the sludge from the bottom.

a clear one may be a way to go, or at least a way of knowing when to inspect the can. i still dont understand how they could have made the motor like this, knowing that the building in the intake could cause major problems in the future.

nevertheless, i need to throw in a quart just to be on the safe side. and i have to remember to check it once a month, at least

Re: BT Clear Catch Can & new antenna

I'm pretty sure it comes down to emissions standards. So what's already in there is caked pretty good (I would assume) and the sludge ain't leaving unless I take it apart and clean it?

Makes me wonder if I got the catch can too late...

Re: BT Clear Catch Can & new antenna

The sludge is caused by normal wear. Its not going anywhere unless you pull it apart and clean it out.
