I've talked to a few people and said I wasn't going to post up but I've had a change of heart
The back window will be lost if I go the route I want!! The way I look at it is sacrifices will have to be made in order to achieve a certain look since the Jeep does not come with such parts and wasn't designed to have them.
I'm 98% sure it will look similar to the Porsche below. The sides of the wing will be flush with the sides of the jeep so the side view will look like the body is just extended it won't step back on the sides like the Porsche. Much cleaner look!!
The rear break light will be cut out similar to the wing photo and it will sit flush with the roof the only part that will be above the roof will be the piece that is attached to the wing.
The underside of it will be vented like a rear diffuser so we can try to deflect some air downward and keep the back window clean.
That's the exact reason I had a change of heart and posted. I'll have to look into that and how it was attached right now it's just an idea any input is good input.
The only drawback with that idea I see is people having to take something apart on their jeep or possibly having someone else do the install. That would add cost to the mod and time. But it's defiantly something I'll look into!! I was worried about losing the back window's function LOL!!!
I'm thinking it will be cut out like the wing above. So no blockage it will just be cut to fit the light not as large of a cutout as above. I want to have as much space on the underside as possible that way I can put as many diffusers as possible on the like 3 on either side.
LOL !!! I've heard that before it's all good. I love my jeep and just want to produce parts for it if I make parts and break even on what it cost to do so I'm Good!!! Just trying to help the Jeep community.
Maybe you can cover the 3'rd brake light and use a red LED strip in the new wing for a 3rd brake light. Something like these but red. Either 6" or 1' long.
I like it now where thinking!!! That would be hot.
I would have to find a way to get the wires out of it and cover it but ensure it's water tight. This is something I'll have to look into also.
Any ideas!! I don't want this to be 1,000 wing the more complex it gets the higher the production cost.
Removable. If it's not attached to the bolts it will be double sided tape. I think other wings are attached that way. This will be most user friendly and keep cost down.
It would be cool if you could use the glass mounts and have the wing set just above the rear hatch(1/2 inch or so). That way you can keep factory 3rd brake light.
I think this could work. I'm trying to visualize in my head what it could possibly look like. I like the idea and I think you are heading in the right direction.
Kudos to you for making the hood and helping the jeep community. I believe a "wing" will really pop on our jeeps as long as it is not too big.
Props to you Odviious for bring your ideas to us first!!! You know if a pot of gold fell into my lap second thing I'm doing is buying a RED SRT8 and getting that hood!! First I would show up to work like 6 hours late with Kim Kardashian and camera crew and tell everyone to Kiss My Ass!!!
Thanks!!
HAAAA! you got that right I would do the same.
O.K.
I just went and took the cover off the top hinge that holds the back glass to the body. I can make the mounting point the of the wing the same shape as the whole bracket that hold the back glass on sort of like a cover. I can use the top bolt (longer bolt) of the window bracket as a mounting point for the wing along with some double sided tape for security.
I like the idea of having a solid mount point. I ve had some bad expeirences with double sided tape. Sounds like all you have to do is come up with a design.
Can't Bro' It's off the truck and I'm done today. I'll post up a bunch when I'm closer to being done. Think of this a just a teaser!! It's so ruff right now this is the best pic. I could get Sorry. I'll update next week Cool?
