i'm mad at myself, for allowing this to happen. this is what happens when you want something soooooooo bad, that you go out of your way to get screwed over.

i ordered a set of their black chrome wheels in early june via ebay, which had a core return attached to the auction. core means that i had to send back mine, in exchange for the ones they were sending me. the core charge was $1,500. after receiving the products, i returned my wheels to them, and expected my core return in a timely fashion. after numerous phone calls, it was brought to my attention that they had billing issues, which honestly are not my concern. i expected to receive my core by the end of july, after numerous complaints. in august, i received a personal check from an individual who i was told was the "owner", but the check bounced. i dont understand how this company can continue business when they owe me money. paypal was no help, being that it was out of their 45 day warranty period. they do not return my calls, i call at least 4-5 times per week, and i keep leaving messages for people i dont know. now, the person i have been dealing with for the past 3 months, all of a sudden is leaving the company. i dont understand these people. they should make an exception and send me my money, i have been waiting long enough

i want my core returned to me. i have been waiting for over 3 months while this company continues business operations. they collect money on a daily basis with they thriving ebay business. there is no way they can not afford to refund me my $1,500, plus my $12 bounced check fee

it is unfortunate that their product was so good, but i will never, everrrrrrrr deal with this company again.

just thought you all should know..............

ps. i have already filed a complaint with the bbb, in case you were wondering

thanks man. im still working on getting my money back, it just sucks

Sorry to hear this man, guess its just one of those rough lessons learned :/ I only heard good things but goes to show even good companies with good products can slip up in customer service :(

They certainly owe you big time, I think in a situation like this you can get more than just your $ back. Talk to a lawyer if you really wanna get after it, may be free set of wheels in line if hes good ;)
if they dont do anything this week, i may just find a lawyer. hopefully have them cover the lawyer fees as well

if they bounced a check...cant you take that to your local county attorney and file charges against them? They will have to pay the check plus your fees or show up for court.

I hope you stick it to them!!!!!

i did, and they are working on it. they said about 2 weeks, hopefully they stick it to them also

on a lighter note, this bullshit company stopped offering the core exchange option, all of their ebay auctions now are for buying outright, or sending you rims to get powdercoated. this def happened because of me

Yep, see what your CC company will do. If they dont do anything type up a formal demand letter and have it mailed to them certified (where they have to sign for it). Demand your money within 5 buisness days or you will be taking them to court. Typically when they know they owe you they will try to not deal with litigation as is the case of a core charge on a motor I bought from a local company... 6 months, and all I got was "Oh man, I just called them yesterday (he was a dealer for this reman company and I assume the reman company is who "owed" me). This was every time I called... and when they said I should have it in a week, I didnt call them again for 8 days to give them the benifit of the doubt... It took a demand letter my father and I drove out and personally served him which ended with him storming away smasing the letter in the envelop mid conversation, 3 days later I had a call and he needed my address and magically a check showed up!

NOTE: I am not a lawyer, nor do I claim to know law, its just a decently simple case, they obviously owe you... having attempted a payment already is proof they know they owe you, as if their already wasnt enough proof they owe you.

Good luck!

thanks for the info

im going to run with the credit card company first, being that they said they shouldnt have a problem getting my money back. hopefully everything works out in the end.

definitely file a complaint, you can get more then your money back, set a court date summons. i guarentee you'll have a phone call before the first court date starts, and they'll settle for more then you paid!

so i havent touched this topic in a while, really due to embarrassment, but heres where we stand.......US Wheel Exchange has been (supposedly) bought out my either Detroit Wheel & Tire or US Wheel Exchange & Repair (i know, pretty obvious that its the same company). regardless, they are not willing to refund any core payments that were promised by the old owner, Joe Volpe, so we are all assed out. so the next step, LEGAL ACTION

after filing a complaint on the BBB of Michigan, and contacting the Michigan Attorney General, i am hoping to get enough people to file a class action law suit against them

if anyone knows someone who has been conned by these people, or just hasnt had their core returned, have them contact me parryermo@gmail.com

hopefully we'll get all of our money back

so i have partial good news....

after finding Rob's, the new owner, cell # online, i called him directly. i explained to him everything that happened, and he was willing to listen to everything i had to say. he was really cool about it, but explained to me that he was going out on a limb to make me happy. though i dont really agree with that, this was the deal i made with him:

he would send me another set of rims, in black chrome, outright, for $1000 shipped. now its my job to resell them to make my money back. honestly, it may not be the best deal in the world, but at least i have the possibility of making my money back. i can sell the rims for $2500 and im good, i'm not looking to take advantage of anyone. he also said he would honor the warranty the rims i bought last year and the rims im buying now.

im pretty happy with this deal. i dont mind working to get my money back, its either that or dont get my money back at all. if anyone wants a staggered set of black chrome rims let me know. i'm going to get shipping quotes this week

It would make me nervous to give them ANY more business... I would contact a lawyer and ask him what your options are, I would think that the debt will follow the company unless the original owner went bankrupt, if he just sold the company the assets and debts should follow... Again, I am no lawyer but if this is so, you have every right to hang these guys up and skin them, er, i mean get your money from them. With that you can file in small claims court and sue them, I am sure it is WAY more hassle than they want to deal with if you have your lawyer draft a letter explaining your rights and the law and that they do owe you so it would be in everyones best interest for them to just cut you a check than to deal with interstate litigation.

I mean, consider this, if when the merge happened there were 5 guys that still owed 1000 bucks to the previous company you think they would just forget about them as it was "the last guys problem"... HEEELLLL no! the would probably be in small claims before they changed the sign on the building.

I would not give them another penny, did you pay 2500 for the wheels (not including the core of course)? if its a stretch for a company to sell them for that much you think someone will pay joe schmoe that much?

i spoke to the attorney general's office of michigan, where they are located. the previous guy did file bankruptcy, the new guys do operate under a new business name, tax id, and telephone #s. there is nothing i can do at this point, other than file a law suit in small claims court which may lead to a dead end, to attempt to get my money back. and to file a small claim law suit i would have to fly there, costing me more. i think this is the best opportunity i have to get most of my money back

youre right, i agree that this is a risk, but this out of desperation. the $1000 i pay them now is for product. if they dont deliver, they have my credit card company to deal with. my credit card company couldnt help before because the product was delivered, but the core exchange is something that even credit card companies do not understand.

i have contacted a lawyer. though i have many options, if the guy has disappeared, it may be a lost cause (being that the new company did everything lawful to remove themselves from anything related to the old business). i paid them $2500 and sent them my rims in exchange, so now i would be paying $3500 for the rims i have plus another set black chromed, which i am hoping to sell for around $2500, thus taking my cost back down to $1000, which was the original price of the PVD black chrome coating. alot of work but i need to get this over with

thanks for the input though

Hi all. I personally own an 02 TJ Sport with black chrome wheels, 33" MT baja's. I have browsed these forums for some time looking for mods and how-to's. I joined today to introduce myself and answer some questions about US Wheel Exchange.
First of all, this is not an advertisement. This is meant to set aside some misinformation out there and allow other enthusiasts out there to consider kick-ass PermaChromed wheels without fear of being ripped-off.
Who am I? I am a car enthusiast who has worked in the automotive aftermarket industry for 10 years. My parent company recently aquired US Wheel Exchange & Repair. Here is a brief history:
In November 2011, the company was aquired by a creditor. The creditor sold the inventory to an individual who began operating under the name US Wheel Exchange and Repair (no relation to the previous US Wheel Exchange) in the hopes of capitalizing on what was thought to be a good name in the industry. In the last quarter of 2012, US Wheel Exchange & Repair was sold for the final time to the current team. None of the original staff has any affiliation, silent or otherwise, with The New US Wheel Exchange & Repair.
We are the sole distributor or PermaChrome coatings (Black and Bright), as well as powder coatings.
To answer some questions from the thread:
What exactly is PermaChrome? PermaChrome is a PVD process unlike any other and backed by a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. The process involves removing the original wheel coating and replacing it with a thin layer of metal in the finish of your choosing (black or bright chrome) and protecting it with a clear powdercoat. PermaChrome wheels do not pitor peel like traditional chrome, but can be damaged by anthing that would damage the paint on your Jeep (like traditional chrome cleaner).
US Wheel Exchange & Repair again offers to coat your wheels. Either send us your cores or swap for a set in their inventory. Turnaround time for PermaChrome coating is 1-2 weeks and is not available for wheels already chrome plated.

Better yet take your bs to another forum. You guys used their name to profit on their good reputation, and left many customer feeling like they got screwed.

Take a hike

I'm sorry you feel that way.
PermaChrome is a solid product but US Wheel has a poor reputation on this forum and I was reaching out to a community I used many a times myself to let them know its not the same company. Clearly you're not receptive and I'm not going to push the issue here, this is a Jeep forum afterall. I'll get back to the regulary scheduled programming.
