Re: Tire Thread

Went to an authorized GY dealer today looking for an adjustment on the 2 fronts that they denied yesterday at the Jeep dealership. Getting 2 new fronts tomorrow for $300. I really wanted different new tires and different sizes like I had seen or read about here. Was liking the Vreds, Proxes, Nitto's but was told by two different sources that I had to get the same as before because the Jeep was AWD and any other size was going to damage the transmission and transfer case. I am new to this wonderful vehicle with no way handy to second guess so I took the offer for the present time plus it was just to dangerous to continue to drive on falling apart tires. So could someone verify what I was told, does anyone also have AWD with larger tires?
I simply bought the tires to buy time. Please advise a newbie!

Re: Tire Thread

you can get the 275 40 or 45 and 315-35 and it not afect a thing. There are plenty of SRT guys running that. But Nitto sells the 420s in the stock sizes...I have them.

Could anyone recommend me anything good in that size?? They don't have to be all season.....but excellent rain performance is a must.

Tires I've found in the size I'm after. Opinions please? I'm mostly after high performance tires. No off roading

Re: Tire Thread

well i had the Falken S/Tz-04 and they were ok but I wouldnt buy them again. They threw up alot of rocks because of the wide tread pattern. Ive heard alot of good things about the toyo proxies and my brother has the kumho ecsta on his camero, they seem like good tires. I think most people are going to recommend the toyo proxies or the Bridgestone Dueler out of those you have listed.

Re: Tire Thread

actually i just saw you are getting 20 inch tires. Im not sure how the duelers would look in 20s. They are a good stock size tire though.

Re: Tire Thread

Put an order in for Toyo Proxes ST II :

275 / 40 / 20
315 / 35 / 20

Was checking out my GY Runflats today and one of the stock ones with 27,XXX miles (front) is peeling apart so bad I'm surprised it is even holding air.

When I get them on I'll post up photos and thoughts for sure.
