Oh and be aware that the 315s hydroplane real easy. Keep your speed below 60 in the rain, or you will lose the back and spin the truck. Been there, done that, on the LI Expy. Same in the snow, not good. If you stop, you won't be able to get going again without fishtailing.
Thanks for the heads up Mike, what PSI are you running for yours?

Thankfully no driving in the snow anymore, the SRT is not going to be my daily driver anymore, but i'll keep my speed down in the rain & be mindful of the hydroplaning.

Otherwise how do you like them?

Thanks!

Re: Tire Thread

I normally keep them at around 32psi all around. Any higher and ride quality suffers.

I like them alot better then the stock RS-As. The ride is way softer thanks to them not being runflats, and they hook pretty well (I pulled a 1.78 60' on them). They're a bit too happy to break away on turns, which is fun, if you expect it, scary if you don't.

I probably won't go with them again. I think next time I'll go with a 335 or 345/30 in back with a spacer, because even with as huge as they look off the truck, on it they look puny.

Re: Tire Thread

Guys, I need to change my 245\60\18 Goodyear M+S. tires, the front two are close to illegal.. The 245/60/18 tires are not that widely available, and I was not that impressed in Snow conditions earlier this year, possibly down to the tread on the front two.

So was thinking of going for something wider. I would like to make the profile slightly smaller, but not sure how that would look on a none lowered 2006 Overland.
I am hoping that I wont throw my mileage indicator, and will not need to adjust my TPM, (would I be right to assume if my TPM needs adjusting it would be a dealership job?)

So do you guys have any suggestions? Need them done to be done real soon, as I am doing about 400 miles in the next 1wk or so.

Btw you guys are legends!

just use the tire calculator and stay as close to possible to the stock diameter and you'll be fine

Re: Tire Thread

I'd recommend the Michelin Latitude HPs they are available in the 275/40, and 315/35 sizes, they are nice and quiet, seem to have pretty good treadlife so far, and do fairly well in the snow.

That being said, what is the tallest tire we can fit? I think I am going to pick up a set of 20 x 9 reproduction wheels for the winter, and was looking at the blizzak LM-25 4x4s in a 275 45 20 size that is 29.8" tall. Will they clear on the SRT-8?

Re: Tire Thread

Well, I've been looking at tires a lot lately, and am now considering the following
Summer:
Staggered 20 x 9 20 x 10 stock wheels with 265/50/20 front and 295/45/20 rear BFG KDW tires (I had these on my SRT-4 and really liked them)

Winter: 20 x 9 Replicas with 265 /50/ 20 Bridgestone Blizzak DMV1 tires.

My thought is The taller sidewalls will help with the midwest roads and having the winter tires the same height I can use a winter tire as a spare during the winter and vice-versa in the winter.

Any problems with my thought process?

Re: Tire Thread

shifting gears again!!! Thinking now about the tirerack 18" wheels with some 235 55 18 Blizzak DM V1 runflats the set is 1325.xx shipped to my door mounted with TPMS installed. They are 28.2" tall compared to the 28.6 on my Michelin Latitudes, so I can use one as a spare for the summer.

Re: Tire Thread

If I do the 275/315 Combo (which I think I will be at some point) I've been looking at running a 275/40R20 winter tire. Vredestein has two winter tires in that size and Pirelli has a run-flat winter tire in that size.
There may be more, but that's all I've come up with so far.
