Is your Jeep purple heart worthy? Do you have a story or pics that you reluctantly wish to reminisce on? Tell your story/post your pics up past and present in this thread and we can recuperate together.

Two months after I bought my Jeep, I was at lunch and parked in a lot right along a frontage road. On the highway, an elderly citizen lost control of his SUV, hit a rut in the right lane and proceeded lose control, careen through the chain link fence across the frontage road and right into my Jeep parked in the lot. I've never told the story before but thought I would share.. He got the bumper, headlight and grille and a future trip to the dealer revealed a cracked water pump. My Jeep was knocked back into the parking lane and was about three inches from clipping a BMW behind it... No pics, sorry it was way before I joined any of the forums so I never considered documenting it at the time.

Then... earlier this year I was changing lanes and clipped a Honda that I did not see.. minimal damage and I was able to buff it out. It was actually the first time I've ever hit another car.. nothing too exciting but I have pics of this encounter.

7 minutes after I handed over the money for my red 2000wj I had no plates on it so I had to put it in our garage... little did i know there was a cast iron table saw covered by a blue tarp i didn't see apparently I didn't realize it but I created a triangle shaped punctured in my left fender and didn't notice till about 2 weeks later when I finally got my plates. I'll put up some pics when i get off from work.

Long time since I've been on here but here is my addition...

I was away at school in northern GA the first few months this year, and took a trip to NC to visit and photograph the Whitewater Falls near Cashiers, NC. Anyways, the Jeep had almost slick rear tires (bought that way, lol, 4 new now) and the area had just gotten 3-4" of snow. Leaving the Park (in which the roads had not been cleared), I came down a steep hill which at the bottom had a hard 90 degree left hand turn with a ~30ft drop off on the other side. Well, I was slowly making my way down when the back end began to come around and I began to pick up speed. I ended up hitting the guardrail at a 45 degree angle on the right front corner at about 35 mph, and then the rear swung around and hit the guardrail on the right rear of the rear bumper, leaving a small scrape. I ended up having slid about 200 ft and facing the wrong direction.

+1 for Jeep for hitting a guardrail at 35 and this is the extent of the damage:

I Dont know if it will work, not sure I have enough posts yet. Still havent fixed it happened about 6-8 months ago. Needs new front bumper, new front fender, new front passenger door, and new rear bumper. Not really looking forward to that bill. Hoping I can find some used cheap parts and have them repainted.

Llong story so just copied it from the other forum that I posted on when it happened. Kind of dumb the way it happened. Happened so fast I could not believe it. In the first picture you can see right above the drivers mirror where I originally started to turn around.

"Well driving around this morning went to turn around. So i pulled like 40 feet off the road It was kinda muddy and slid into a little ditch, tried to back out wasnt happening so I was like thats ok I will just staddle the ditch. Well about half way down the ditch my right side slid in. About another foot or so got high centered and was stuck. A guy with a Rubicon just happened to be driving by so he hooked up and pulled me out. And to top it off as we were hooking up the MPs (military police i was on base) showed up. They watched us get the jeep out then wrote me a ticket for driving off the paved roads. The front fasia, My right front fender, front passenger door and rear bumper are either dented or really good and scratched. Well this is long enough pictures will tell the rest."

My wife gave ours the first...

Im not proud of this, Im actually quite dissapointed, but she was out with some friends and tried to squeeze into a parking spot. Didnt so much fit, she came home and swore there was no damage, her and her friends inspected both cars so "it was all ok". She went on to tell me that it "hit" on the back bumper where there was cut in the bumper when we got the vehiclce.

"thats not how the geometry of that type of accident happens, it would be infront of the rear wheel", I told her.

"No, I was turning, that is where it hit and there was no new damage", she told me.

The posted picture was from when I went out to the car the next morning, I knew it made her whole night suck so I was going to go ahead and let her drive it until I went out and saw this.

YES, I know, what she did was not ok in any way shape or form, (the not telling the owner of the other car). I would be more than happy to make it right if I had the ability to contact them, but she didnt take down any information or give any. Its irritating because we have insurance for a reason, there was NO reason for her to do what she did...

For us I brought it to work and the detail guys rubbed it down with magic liquid, only thing left is one hardly noticable scratch.

btw, she has only driven it 2 times since (this was like 3 weeks ago). And one of them (today) was because I needed to do some work on her pickup.

I have one of those too...

Following the repair:

Both of my fingernails were removed in the er, 14 stitches on the 2 fingers, fractured the bone on my ring finger.

Impatience caused this, doing exhaust work chrysler uses tabs welded onto their nuts for the collector hardware so as to keep the nut from spinning. Well it just bent the tab trying to remove it, I put a wrench on it and hit the bolt with my lovely 3/8ths impact the wrench slipped off and my fingers went into the chopsaw of a spinning tab. lesson learned. Could have been MUCH worse... I was also hourly at the time so it worked great, sortof.

this was the first time i had ever had any pain killer injected via needle... WOW, good stuff! I see how people get addicted to the feeling!

damn, you guys are crucial. I've had a busted lip here and there and got a face full of hot grease splatter this summer but none of that serious stuff. I've been fortunate (knock on wood) to not have broken any bones or gotten any stitches. I probably couldve used a stitch or two a few times but nothin a bandaid didn't fix. I've also had a bone splinter from a soccer collision and countless sprained ankles but nothing broken or chopped off.

I hope you'all don't mind, but this accident was with my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500.

I was headed cross country from Washington St to Wisconsin to drop off my truck to my parents. Well on the way when I was driving through Wyoming I noticed that the roads were pretty quiet... unusually quiet. Well about 2 min after that I hit a pregnant deer at about 75mph. UGH! Thank goodness my truck was lifted, because after I hit her, she went right under my truck as I ran over her. She damaged my bull bar and passenger headlight (cracked inside) but thats it phew :)

I recently sold the truck (last year) to purchase my new Jeep. (I cant wait for the Jeep to get here!)

Sorry for the bad pic, this was after driving through the snow storm in Minnesota/Wisconsin around 2008 I think time frame. But you can see the dented bull
bar:

I got better pics of the truck right after I hit the deer. Hair, blood and all :)

Thank goodness for this bull bar, I think it saved my bumper!!!

I think this is the best pic nummy, deer fur anyone?

what up gang. My story happened December 2009, so about a year and two months ago. On my way to a Atv store in Bel Air, MD i was in a car crash. with the weather cold and snow and stuff still somewhat still around while im at it!

anyways, a car pulled out in front of the car in front of me. We both stopped to stay away from crashing, but the car behind me railed me at full speed.

because of the type of collision and icy friction, it sent my car flying forward, and my only option was to swerve left. i swerved around the car in front towards oncoming traffic, missed the cars, drove....more like pushed into a parking lot in which i kept slamming my breaks and i pulled the e-brake. I came to a full stop. That's when a lady came out and exclaimed that i was a great driver.

Me and my buddy were fine. I felt sick however, i got out and there was barely any damage to my jeep! however, i realized that my muffler was bent into my wheel so i need a tow.

damage

however, The lady who hit me ended up destroying her 2008 highlander. her company paid in full for me and they gave my passenger 100$ for his scraped knee (he had his knee cap leaning on the glove box)

turned out my neighbor knows the lady. She was texting. She just got the vehicle recently at the time. She was getting married in a week. luckily she was ok, some wedding present!!!!

funny thing i'd have to say from the accident was that she hit me so hard that my DVD center in my car fell out!

looking back,
i can say that its weird when that adrenaline hits you because it felt like slow motion and fast forward at the same time. I can sit here and say that i made the conscious decision to steer left where i knew was space to drive. if i went right, i would have hit a mailbox and then a tree... if not just the tree. (edit: the one in the second picture. ha)

following that winter, some girl hit me during senior week at ocean city, MD. she barely touched me, but she scatched my chrome on my bumper which costed her 600$...well geico 600$... I told her to pay me upfront when she could, but her parents thought it would be smarter to raise her insurance bill.

anyways, the small hit actually bent her bumper and radiator... stupid honda elements.

two accidents within 6 months.... both hit by girls.

Backside of driver side front quarter panel.

Kid was speeding around a tight corner in a red 2 door sporty car and hit me while I was cruising through the intersection.......I got the ticket.

Look at my damage. Simple. But you should have seen his bumper. "Good WK."

Douchebag!

I fail to see the scenario, though. He had to be moving forward, so anything in front of him, he should have seen..

1997 JGC Laredo V8- bought w/ 42k miles, crashed w/ 180k miles- beautifully taken care of all 8 years I owned her and many mods.

Oct. 14 2009:
I was driving home from work in the middle lane eastbound. A Mustang was passing me in the left lane. I glanced over to see what was coming up on me and when I looked forward again, a white car going westbound lost control and crossed the median and headed directly towards me and the Mustang with all vehicles traveling at about 70mph. With no reaction time, the white car collided driver's side on the Mustang and the force pushed both cars into my Jeep. On impact, my Jeep swerved to the right and smashed into the guard rail at which point it rolled 4 times and landed on it's roof. I'll spare the details, but 3 people were in the collision altogether, two of us made it out alive, the other died on impact, God rest her soul! I was not wearing a seatbelt and my airbags did not deploy, I walked away with a couple scratches and was released from the hospital that same night.
