Yessiree!! Waiting to find the best stuff for me. I want the compressor under the Jeep. I also want a 2lb tank but I don't think I can fit one underneath the Jeep too. Sooooooooooo I'm thinkin bout building a lil off road happy fun box. Consisting of my air tank, off road recover straps and what not, and more. I already have a spot on my Saguaro switch panel waiting for the horn switch!!

Re: Coops "Silver Surfer" Build Thread

Thats a nice spot for the tank, the spare tire gives it alot of protection in the case that you bottomed that out, and nice struts, brush guard and dif guard!

Re: Coops "Silver Surfer" Build Thread

Yep it is a 3 gal pancake tank! I can't take the credit because Russ did it first. I am using an ARB High Output OnBoard Air Compressor (CKMA12). I know I have more pix, let me dig them up for you...

Re: Coops "Silver Surfer" Build Thread

Ok here you go!

Here is the bracket I made to bolt to the tank.

The three bolt holes are threaded but I didn't trust them so I used a bolt and a nut. That way I knew the bolts wouldn't just strip out and leave the tank bouncing down the road behind me!

I plugged the two bottom holes and attached a hose to the top.

Here is how it all goes together. I passed the winch end through the spare and then the mount. I bolted the mount to the tank and ran the holes through one of the spaces in the wheel.

At this point it is ready to hoist up.

On the way up I made sure to run the hose over the crossmember for the track bar.

Instal a quick disconnect in the hose to make dropping the spare easy and then run the hose to the pump.

As you can see the tank is high enough up and out of the way to keep it from impacting rocks, logs, or whatever else you will be going over. And if something does happen to kiss it, well the thing is steel so it shouldn't be a problem!

Re: Coops "Silver Surfer" Build Thread

Thanks Bud! I ended up adding some rubber between the mount and the wheel because over bumps they would rattle against each other.

I actually ordered new ones. I peeled off the top layer of tape holding em together, and left on the bottom plastic piece. Next I painted em a couple times. After they were completely dry, I put the original piece of plastic that was on top of the letters back on. This keeps the logo straight! Then just unpeel the backing and stickers place on the Jeep and BAM you're done! lemme know yo
