Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Thanks bud! There is always more to do on a Jeep I still have quite the list to pick back up when I get home, this Jeep will never be finnished. Granted at some piont the mods are bound to slow down, but there will always be something to do.

The rear shocks I used to have (11") were perfect for the old lift on 295s. I was running smaller bumpstop extensions then but I still had about an inch of shock compression left before they maxed. They would however come very close to maxing out on hard hits when the bumpstop would get smashed. Now with the 35s and new shocks (12") I am running slightly longer bumpstop extensions to keep the tires under control, so at max compression it still works out great.

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Glad you have addressed it. So many people just fit longer shocks without a single thought to the increased compression length.

Thanks, I do my best not to over look things. I typically spend way too much time over thinking them though
BTW, I love you Grand Willys project you have been working on. Your fabrication skills combined with your attention to detail is phenomenal! I can only hope to one day have skills that come close to yours. Of course some higher quality tools would be nice too, I really need to get myself a better welder and a plasma cutter. Oh, some day...

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Speaking of the whole membership when you pay the 19$ membership for this forum do you get one or two of those sweet stickers? I'm going to have to show off my new forum home!

I really need to update this build!!! I have done quite a bit that is not in here, unfortunately the rear carrier is not one of them. I have REALLY wanted to do it just haven't had/taken the time to do it yet. I have all of it planned out and know the parts I need, but need to just make it happen.

Sweet man! Personally I don't think the duallys are worth the money these days, but the D2s are great.
Looking forward to meeting you and going wheeling together soon. I'm bummed there aren't any jeeping trails close by. There is a dirt road called nordoff ridge road north of Ojai off of highway 33 that has good views of the ocean but nothing technical. Otherwise I usually meet up with JeepCoop in the Rowher Flats area that you're probably familiar with. I'd like to do the Miller Jeep trail with you guys.

Still waiting for the SL to show up, can't wait. Any steering issues while wheeling? Any problems with the CHP with the 35's sticking out beyond the fenders? Did you put your limiting straps back in and where can I get some of those?

Thanks Omelet!

I'm pretty sure it is just one, but it wouldn't hurt to ask for a second

Cool man when I get back we will have to check out that ridge together. I will be down for another Miller run too

No steering issues yet (knock on wood!). When I'm aired down and wheeling a difficult trail I try to take it easy one the steering and not force it around. I also try to only turn on obstacles while moving. Those two things will help keep from bending or snapping a tie rod or link. The steering can be under a lot of stress when you have soft knobby tire aired down on the rocks! With the Moabs and 1" spacer the tires don't stick out too far, so I haven't had any run ins with the law. But it is one thing that is on my mind at times. I have yet to put the straps back in, just haven't gotten around to it. You can find everything you need online. I get all my stuff from Off Road Warehouse down in SD, but they have a website too.

Thanks bud! I can't wait either. I was really hoping to get them done before I left, but now they will have to wait. The wife will do some things for me, but that is not one of them
