Thanks you very much guys Getting that shot was a lot of fun!

Greg I actually have one fuel and one water jug up there and the spare is in the rear. I usually stash the jugs on the floor in the back seat, but I had the fam with me so the roof is the next best spot. I am working on a more permanent solution though

Well I won back in Nov so unless they change the rule on that I can't submit again for another 6 months. It would definitely be a good one for it though!

Nope, no winch was used! Only sheer traction thanks to the QD2 system and the tires. The driver rear tire is on a rock at the base. That was as far up as I had the guts to go On the other side of that rock is a nice drop off and rolling off the side would have sucked!

I would argue, New Contest, New Rules but we shall see what the powers to be have to say.

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Well I finally sifted through the 233 pics and got it down to these.

We started at the same place as last time, went up the first stretch where it gets fun fast.

Then it was the pipe obstacle again. Last time there was a nice pile of rocks in front of the pipe to aid in getting over it, this time not so much. I went for it anyway and had a bit of trouble getting the traction needed to get the rear tires over the slick pipe. After a few goes and coming close to sliding into the trench on the passenger side, we wedged a few rocks in between the pipe and the tires and eventually made it up.

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

The it was John's (Jhigz) turn! After my long winded attempt we decided to build up a nice ramp seeing as there was no traction to be had on that pipe. Once he got the drive side front tire up he just kept going to keep from loosing momentum.

Now back in the comfort of our air conditioned, leather clad beasts we headed for the top!

Which is where John pointed out a rock we hadn't noticed before...

I bet I could get up a little more...

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Did a little playing on the rocks.

John's Jeep made love to one!

And then he got a little carried away! Ok not really carried away, but he sure did come close to tipping! A little pucker moment

Sure did make for some great pics though!!!

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Did a little more playing before we left.

Oh Ya! No rubbing!

From there we decided to take a different route out.

It was great until we came to this monster!!!

It is hard to tell but the route the passenger side will take down is quite a bit steeper and deeper than the drive side. We stood there thinking about it for a few minutes and worked out a plan. The plan was to hug the passenger side and try not to slip into the rut (try to ride the ridge) and if that went south then let off the break and let the Jeep dive down with enough forward momentum to keep the rear from coming over. Once the front lands then turn driver (otherwise the Jeep would smash right into the wall) and gas it out of there. Just as soon as I convinced myself that was a good plan a guy on a motorcycle rolled up, surveyed the situation, and said "Bro that looks very sketch, you don't have the travel to pull that off" That when I said "No I think I've got this" and had the fam get out so I could go for it...

... Well it almost went as planned! The one bad thing about these tire, not much sidewall grip. I couldn't stay on line where I has hoping too (In all honesty I didn't think I would) but the rest of the plan worked out perfectly! After plummeting down and newly tipping, John decided to back track and use the route we took last time (What I should have done!!!).

After we both made it out safely it was a fun successful day! We had a couple close calls, but we learned not to take that way out again Good times!!!
