Thanks guys! I have have actually found alcohol to work very well to prep for paint. It removes all the grease and dirt and dries the surface to allow paint to stick very well. This is the same process I have always used for painting and I have never had the paint chip or peel off.

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

That was a thorough, and helpful write up since I will be painting the black plastics on my Laredo. I've looked at diagrams showing how to disassemble the mirrors, and they weren't even close to this. I've only one question what grits did you use for the sanding process? Thanks again

Thanks I'm obviously a little challenged when it comes to painting.

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Awesome job on the mirrors. I've been meaning to do mine for a while but have not made the time. I want to do mirrors, wiper cowls, trailer hitch bezel and eventually side skirts.

No worries bud! I get most of my good paint front
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ and they have some helpful how-to videos that are worth watching. Take a look!

Thanks bud! I need to do my wiper cowls too. I will probably paint them graphite and not color match them to the body. I have some hopeful plans for a snorkel which is why I haven't painted them yet, I don't want to paint them twice I also have plans for my rear bumper and it will not include the hitch bezel which is why I haven't bedline it to match the rear step yet. Oooh so much to do and I have no time right now!!!

Uuuh thanks I think?! I think it really adds to the look, makes it look more refined and not so cheaply made.

Lol omelet don't be huffin'!!! You wouldn't look right wif gold teef. Snorkel eh? Got custom plans? I've been looking into it, I'm going to pull my passenger fender soon to see what I'm up against. I've seen a couple homemade jobs online that look decent but most look pretty rough. Gary's is pretty tight though! Lol

Haha, yep Gary had something going! I had plans for a sleek snorkel made out of fiberglass that would hug the passenger side A pillar. Well that's until the wife said enough She has put up with a lot that I have done on with this thing, but she put her foot down on this one. I will most likely still mock one up and make it, but it wont be going on the Jeep. I just want to make what I have in my head to prove to myself that I can. And if it turns out to be a sweet design that is easy enough to make and instal, then others can benefit from it. So we will see!

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Did you ever do a write up in this monster thread about cutting up your front bumper? If so do you know about where it is in here?
