Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Great build omelet. I've enjoyed following along!

I just ordered my superlift, bilstein's, RRO UCA's and OME front springs and am having local 4wheelparts store in thousand oaks do the install when it shows up in about 4-8 weeks, can't wait to join the 35 in club!

I am going to do a setup like yours and I was wondering if you had any issues lately or things you'd do differently?

Also, made any headway on your rear tire carrier? I'm thinking tire gate as an option for myself although it's not perfect.......

Thanks!

Sounds like we will have another awesome WK in SoCal soon! We will have to get together when I get home and do some wheeling. I have family that lives up your way and I have been wanting to find some trials there. Do you know of any?

I really need to update this build!!! I have done quite a bit that is not in here, unfortunately the rear carrier is not one of them. I have REALLY wanted to do it just haven't had/taken the time to do it yet. I have all of it planned out and know the parts I need, but need to just make it happen.

Sweet man! Personally I don't think the duallys are worth the money these days, but the D2s are great.

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

(23 FEB 2013)

Warning! This thread is about to get even more picture heavy!!!

So this past Sat I was planning a big shooting/wheeling day with anyone in the area that wanted to come. Well long story short the group dropped from the hopeful 7 Jeeps down to just 2. So it was myself and John (Jhigz) having all the fun again The plan was to first head out to my favorite shooting spot taking the scenic route and then make our way to Pancake Rock for a little wheeling. Once loaded up we were on our way...

Sorry no shooting pics, onto the wheeling! The trail starts off very nicely with some fun obstacles all the way up.

Oh what is that?!

We avoided this one.

And the next one.

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

John did a little 3wheeling through a rut.

Then I wanted to have a little fun

Putting those SA sliders to work!

I scraped up my rear wheel a little.

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Now onto my pucker moment! There is a decent size ledge up ahead. These things are always hard to show in pics, but it was close to hood height. Normally we just ride it high on the right to avoid it completely, but I wanted to try it this time It was too high to take it head on so I had to angle it.

I really should have disco'd the rear, but I didn't.

Unfortunately it was too loose and I couldn't get the traction I needed. Also the Jeep was straightening out causing the rear to sink into this hole.

Now I needed to back up and try another line, only the Jeep had shifted to the passenger side and backing up meant I had to get over that bumper.

The tail pipe was digging in so John scraped some dirt away so it would get jammed in.

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

Oh the fun part! While backing up the passenger rear was going up while the driver rear was going down. The Jeep was already leaning so this was just asking for trouble.

Fearing it was about to roll over John jumped on the slider to add a little more weight!

I went back and forth a few time trying to make my way back over to the line I originally used to get up.

I was backing down as a group of hikers came around the corner.

They were all very intrigued and decided to stick around a watch. I chose a more modest route this time.

Then it was John's turn.

We both made it up safely! And to put it mildly the hikers were amazed that we did. They had no idea nor would have ever guessed that these grocery getters were so capable

Re: Omelet's Build Thread!

From there it was pretty easy to the base of Pancake.

And we are there!

Then I hopped back down to spot John.
