LJS - great chart. The WK2 has a 9" longer wheelbase than the WJ. That's pretty dramatic. I personally think the ZJ/WJ configuration is nearly optimal for an all-around wheeling platform - long enough to be comfortable on steep ascents and descents, narrow and short enough to fit most trails. I kinda like the extra shoulder room in the WK compared to the ZJ, but why did Jeep feel they needed to go even wider? The next Grand will be as wide as a Hummer!

They added all the extra wheelbase to the rear leg room. I understand it was cramped but it really changes everything.

I think they made it wider to keep from rollover lawsuits now they have Quadralift.

It is getting closer to the Hummer size, when I saw one, the front end looked massive to me.

Interesting that at 26.3 the WK2 Stock Approach angle is more than 25% less than the WJ was.
The WK2 with Quadralift it is 34.3. Still less than the stock WJ & WK(34.6).
Another interesting thing-Quadralift brings it up 2" in the rear and 3.7" in the front?
Maybe the WK2 spec info is wrong? It is usually the jeep bible on WKhttp://www.wk2jeeps.com/2011/2011_wk_specifications_June.pdf

I can see complaints for lack of cargo space, so adding to the length makes sense, but does anyone really use a Grand to haul 5 people for long periods of time? If not, I'd think the width of the WK1 was plenty for 4 full sized people. (I love the increased head room of the WK2 - that was seriously needed.)

Exactly. Too big for my tastes.

the back seat of the wk is cramped length and width. The wk2 seems to solve that
Yes, which is why I can see the need for additional length, but I don't really see the need for additional width. And I think that may be one of the reasons I don't really like the new looks - it looks too fat. Then again, maybe the designers thought if they added more length, it would look weird/too thin if they didn't also add width.
