Wait, wait, wait...I just missed something here...up front you are running SL spacers+Rusty's spacer+bilsteins for the 6"? Wouldn't that equate to 4"+1/2"+3/8"? I just thought you were going the standard SL route, I didn't know you were going for the 6" Superballs lift! Awesome!

Re: "Oscar the grouch" build thread

You got 6 inches with just the superlift?
Or do you have spacers up there?

Re: "Oscar the grouch" build thread

Hey Tosh- If you jump up to 35's (as I do when mine wear out enough) do you think this spot will be a clearance issue?

I've got 6" lift in the rear right now and my tire is just as close as if not closer to the front side of the fender. I still have yet to put on my adjustable lower control arms in the rear (two year old kid and busy job-go figure), but I know what is going to happen-

The additional 2" in the rear threw out the pinion angle from rear DS to the rear diff. If I push the rear axle back with the lower control arm, it will take the pinion angle out further. I think I'm going to have to have adjustable rear upper control arms, but I'm afraid of starving the pinion bearing.

Any thoughts?

Up front I'm only running the SL spacers, Bilsteins, new oem springs, and new isolators. It most definitely measures out over 6" though. It may settle with time though.

Thinking some 295 Trail Grapplers. I'm also running the OME shocks right now because they didn't send me any bushings for the SL shocks. May be getting some Bilstein 5150's.

Depends on the tire I suppose. Omelet is running a 295/70/17 on a stacked OME lift and hasn't had any issues there. Also when the rear compresses the axle shifts back into the wheel well. I would jack both the front and rear up as high as possible and fill the fluids. I've heard of a couple cases where peoples pinion bearings are getting smoked after SL install from oil starvation. My kit has the new lower control arms but sits in the same position axle wise as the drop brackets. Upper control arms would be key. Pretty sure you'll need to drop the fuel tank to access the drivers side frame mount bolt though.

Re: "Oscar the grouch" build thread

Yeah, I can tell by looking the front is definitely high, which looks great!

As far as the rear goes...I'm going to get some time set aside soon to start tearing it apart and experimenting. I would like to go with either a 285/75/17 or a 35x12.5x17. both of these will have a bigger OD than a 305/70/17, (I think?) that is what concerns me. I'll have to find a shop that will let me test fit one tire mouted to a rim.

Re: "Oscar the grouch" build thread

The 285/75/17 is 33.83" tall and the 305 is a 33.81" tall tire. All depends on how fat of a tire you want. 35x12.5x17 is gonna be the biggest of the three for sure. Of course brand and style come into play as well.

Re: "Oscar the grouch" build thread

Jay how far over is your axle shifted after adding the rear spacers? Even after adding the SL bracketry the added lift will carry the axle towards the drivers side some I'm thinking. Not much but may be noticeable.
