that commander sounds tough... does she have an after market muffler on there?

Got around to doing the Omelet rear fender trim mod and will run the stock bumpstops for the wheeling trip next month to see what kind of clearance or bumpstopping may need to be added. Debating right now on whether or not to get the 4xguard Matrix and front hitch mount(hopefully some still available) and do a portable winch setup, if the funds allow. Was looking at a 9500lbs. Winch but may do a 12000lbs winch. Overkill?
Thought I had seen something on JG about but I searched and didn't find it but in Google I found the thread on another Forum not to be spoken of but it's a good write up and a decent amount of fab work.....
That would be Omelet's rig. We're running the same stacked lift setup. His jeep is pretty sick and he has a lot of hidden tricks on that bad boy. I like the idea of a portable winch that doesn't duh on the front weighing it down all the time. Being able to mount a winch in the rear as well is a huge plus. Sounds like now that 4xguard is being bought by JBA I'll have a chance to get my Matrix and make it happen sooner or later.
yea I went through a wave of emotions today when I saw they were closing ( I was late getting that news) than they were bought and staying open. I was mad I wasn't gonna be able to get my Matrix either
Busy busy weekend! Removed and installed a Rack and Pinion on "Oscar", notched the rear bumper to have the Gibson tail pipe rewelded straight out instead of at a 45* angle, ground down the rear of the reciever on the gf's XK to make the 265/70/17 BFG A/T spare fit. Scored a used set for free on CL! I also picked up a used 285/70/17 Firestone Destination M/T for a spare.
On to the pics!!
All too familiar site in my garage as of late. I've had the front end apart just about every weekend lol!
The new fluid is crystal clear FYI..
Also picked up this nifty little tool to help remove the inner tie rod end from the rack w/out having to remove the outer tie rod end. Will be nice on the trail if the need every arises to replace a bent or broken tie rod.
Also here's a video of one of the many noises the old rack was making among the snapping and popping into and out of tight turns. I took off the bellow boot hoping it was just the inner tie rod but unfortunately it was not. The gf is turning the wheel back and forth pretty quick in this vid, but you'll notice the knocking subsides some when I put pressure on the rack.
