I don't understand. This was a event held by Chrysler. Everything was there to drive. Hemi's and the new V6.

I gotta say the new WK interiors are nice to look at. Im not a fan of woodgrain either but they did a pretty good job. Nice photos and thanks for sharing. I want to go to this event but I never got a code or the official invite.

Thanks for the real life pics. Gives us a better idea of what the trim levels and colors actually look like.

Re: PICS from Grand Destination

I attended the event and I must say I think Jeep has hit a home run with the new Grand. It's not a double-decker but very impressive none the less.

It looks great in person. Every angle is very pleasing to the eye. The fit and finish are far above any previous Jeep product and many competitor offerings. The interior is world class. Excellent layout, feel, and room. The driving dynamics are spot on for what will be for many, primarily an on road cruiser. The whole vehicle feels as if it was carved from granite.

My only con was a surprise to me. The HEMI. I expected the wk2 to have much better down low power. Maybe it's the weight. It's a big heavy vehicle which is begging for even more power. (Don't get me started on the v6. It's not even an option still, imho).

One of the Jeep people said 0-60 in 7.4 for the hemi, 8.4 for the six.

The power deficit was only exemplified later in the day when I visited a friend. He had just gotten a new X5 50i. (4.4L v8, twin turbo 400HP). I believe the X5 weighs more, but it's a pure rocket all over the rev range. 0-60 in 5.3 ish.

Anyway, it's a Jeep and not about straight line performance. I'd take a new WK2 over the X5 any day of the week. It's that good.

I'll wait for the first year gremlins to be corrected and will be picking up a 2012. I am sold.

Re: PICS from Grand Destination

Where the WK2 trumps all its competition, is price. It's not the best, nor the most pioneering vehicle anymore (VW Touareg also launched at Moab showing off all the same capabilities, tricks and gizmos 7 model-years ago and it's also a unibody).

The BMW is no way comparable. To get the same features as a loaded Overland, the BMW is $79,000!

You could get an Overland AND a Laredo...

Re: PICS from Grand Destination

Off the line, my 6cyl X5 would keep up with the Hemi, but eventually the Hemi would smoke the X. That BMW 5.0 is a beast, but as you have stated, you have to pay big buck to get one (and maintain one)!!

I was surprised too to see that they did not boost the Hemi up to at least the numbers that the new Ram is putting out, but maybe that is for next year. Sure would love to have the dual exhaust that the '11 has...

Definitely, bang for the buck goes to the WK2 by a long shot!

The only comparison I was drawing was in power. The X5 is heavier and its V8 is rated ONLY 40 HP more than the HEMI (400 vs. 360), yet charges to 60 in 2 seconds less? Gearing or underated BMW V8? Not sure, but it seems the HEMI should be doing better. Quite honestly, my 4.7 HO charges harder to 60 than the HEMI, but the WJ weighs a lot less.
