It looks great in person. Every angle is very pleasing to the eye. The fit and finish are far above any previous Jeep product and many competitor offerings. The interior is world class. Excellent layout, feel, and room. The driving dynamics are spot on for what will be for many, primarily an on road cruiser. The whole vehicle feels as if it was carved from granite.

My only con was a surprise to me. The HEMI. I expected the wk2 to have much better down low power. Maybe it's the weight. It's a big heavy vehicle which is begging for even more power. (Don't get me started on the v6. It's not even an option still, imho).

One of the Jeep people said 0-60 in 7.4 for the hemi, 8.4 for the six.

.
My feelings are the exact opposite. I walked into that event yesterday knowing that, if we buy a new WKII that it would be Hemi powered. Well to tell you the truth, I was very impressed with the new six. On the first course out the hole the six felt quicker to me. Also felt easier to push around the turns. No doubt the 300lbs wieght differece helps with that. Add in the better mileage. The six is definitly an option for us now.

Re: PICS from Grand Destination

After checking out the new Grand from a different perspective (interior/electronics) performance aside, i am EXTREMELY impressed. I was for this vehicle 100% when it was initially shown to the world and i still stand behind it now that i have had the first hand experience. The interior leather and wood grain is sooo nice. Nice slide-down nav, and really cool information center. Very similar to that of the audi's where it is in the center of the instrument cluster.

The quadra lift is a really cool feature, love the sport mode and the aggressive look of the overland. The cooled seats and electronic lift gate are nice perk features. Did anyone really like the least important option of them all... the proximity key fob?? Just keep it in your pocket and as soon as you put your hand on the door handle it unlocks the jeep automatically.

I checked a blackberry color Grand out at the DuPage Chrysler Jeep Dodge in the Chicago suburbs by the way.

Such a nice vehicle. I wish to be riding out in one of these one day...

Not sure, but it seems the HEMI should be doing better. Quite honestly, my 4.7 HO charges harder to 60 than the HEMI, but the WJ weighs a lot less.
You're missing a few points....let's compare.

X5 5.0 = 400hp, 450lb ft torque, 8spd transmission.
GC Hemi = 360hp, 390lb ft torque, 5spd transmission.

Both have similar curb weights around 5k, give or take for each.

But you can see simply from the stats why the X5 5.0 would be significantly faster.

The WK2 is slated for a new tranny down the road. I'm sure that will improve performance down low. As it stands now, my only gripe is the performance off the line. My wife had the same/only gripe. Very strange when you see the #'s for the HEMI.

But again, a great job by Jeep. I hope they sell a million of these and bring the company back to sound financial footing. I have no doubt if they can get people into the showrooms to see and test drive the vehicle, it will be a hit. There is nothing at this price point that compares, imho.

Agreed, just adding a new transmission (at least a 6spd) would yield a nice improvement. My uneducated guess is a new tranny will be out for the 2012 MY.

Indeed, they did a nice job on this vehicle. I had an 07 SRT8, the new model is so much more refined. On a completely different level imho.

Re: PICS from Grand Destination

If the 0-60 time for the V6 and V8 are 8.4 and 7.4 seconds respectively, I just lost interest. I was expecting less than 7 seconds for the Hemi (but not much less).

Re: PICS from Grand Destination

Thanks for the pics! The one thing I haven't gotten a definitive answer on though is whether the push button start is standard across all trim levels? Jeep's own website and iphone app are conflicting.

Re: PICS from Grand Destination

I went too. I think most of you know I really don't like the rear of this WK2. After seeing it in person I still don't but... The rest of the improvements in this thing more than make up for it. I was not prepared for the interior! Ergonomics, quality, feel, looks, just everything is great. Jeep hit a homer with this interior. The spare is inside, under the floor and the 2 little cubbies are gone replaced with better ones around the spare. Here's a pic of it:

I drove the hemi and the 6 too. The 6 is barely OK but the hemi was perfect. It could maybe have a little more guts but there's almost no throttle lag and it goes pretty good. I think if it had the 373 gears that the current WK has, it would launch much better. No body color grill as far as I saw. Failed to ask!

I am not in the market for a new one now but if I was to buy one, I'd be very happy with a Laredo X with the Hemi in Inferno Red. There was one there and it stickered for 38 and change. Not bad for this thing!
