Re: Richie's Supercharged 4.7HO

The original plugs were a stock heat range (come to find out) NGK Iridium plug. I can't see at work if I put pictures of them on here. I blew a head gasket at almost 20# of boost and a very lean AFR of 13.5 when I should have been around 11.8.. This blew the head gasket and the plugs help up great just some peppering on the ground strap. I swapped to the E3 Diamond fire to see if they were really as good as they say, keeping the timing the same as the NGK and richening it way up to be safe to a 10 AFR. Malted the plugs after only a few short driving runs and making only 14#-15# of boost. I am now back to NGK Iridiums (after getting correct 2 heat range colder plugs from their tech department) and they are running well so far. Their is a little white on the ground prong where it is a little hot still but looking very good. Belt slip and making around 16# right now. AFR mid to low 10's.

How is the bottom (deep inside of the spark plug) of the porcelain insulator and where is the burnt fueling ring located on the insulator...right next to where it meets the metal bottom?

The threaded rings are telling me that this plug either hasn't been installed long or they are a bit to cold. They are very new looking and should have the first 2 threads burnt from heat transfer to the head.

This one is telling a very bad story.

Looks like you have way to much timing as your timing burn is down at the base of the ground electrodes. Pull more timing at this boost level.

It looks like there are more than 2 threads burned so it's a bit to hot.

It has some severe damage to the insulator and the electrodes are melted. Are there tiny glossy black specks melted to the insulator?

She got way to hot!

I don't know when you pulled these plugs (above pics).

Take some timing out of the upper boost range and take it for a good 0-100 wot run then shut her down and pull a plug immediately afterwards and post up some pics. It will tell us everything that is going on in there.

Re: Richie's Supercharged 4.7HO

It runs good, But i want the blower to perform at it's peak everytime i start it. i've had belt slip for years and want to see what it can do without any.
