Got my new thicker supercharger bracket installed with my machined down spacers. Charged up the battery and fired her up. Nice to hear the beast awaken after a slumber.
Got to finish installing the last little bit, so now I can finally drive it again and possibly try and tune again. Now I just need a loan so that I can feed it.
I just got my TB back from F&B and thought I would throw up a little video of it idling. The exhaust it not connected, so it's just the manifold (basically)
I pulled my spark plugs to see how bad they were fouled. Plugs 6 & 8 were wet in the outside where the coil pack goes. I saw this last time I checked my plugs too buy didn't worry about it to much. Now I am wondering if my intake is leaking at the seals or if even worse the intake manifold itself is cracked..... :what: the liquid could be my methanol squirting out of the side of the intake. I don't think it's rain because it hasn't rained and I drove it yesterday.
So I got it pulled out right before it started storming bad here. Guess I'll find out soon enough.
I didn't see any obvious cracks or anything in the stock intake manifold. So I decided to give the sheet metal intake manifold another shot. I know there was some hood clearance issues so I hope I don't regret it.
Do you pick up more power with it, just curious as to why you ran the stock manifold instead? Or is it just the fact you would need to get a scoop on the hood for clearance.
It definitely helps top end (which is what an intake like this is for, "all our racing"). But when I ran it for awhile at first it screamed above 3K rpm but lagged off idle. So on the street it sucked off the line and at low rpm which is where the majority of your driving is at on the street. So I took it off but I am hoping I can offset it now. I'll find out soon.
I fixed some of the auto correct words that my phone decided to change. Now it makes more sense lol.
I thought about trying the 08 manifold but it's still plastic and that was one of my fears, was that the intake would fail over time from above average boost.
Hahaha, yeah I did read it and knew what you meant anyway.
True enough, your intake manifold must go through hell with the amount of boost you are running! Good luck on getting the tune refined with the sheet metal version.
I lost a very important family member a few weeks back (unexpectedly) that was also one of my best friends. I really thought about leaving my Jeep behind because it has grown old and didn't seem important in my life anymore. My cousin who had just passed was a car guy like me, so after a few additional weeks I decided to get back on the horse and continue on my lonely journey with my ever aging piece of equipment (WJ) and try to finish what I had started. He always liked my Jeep so Now I have a new reason to keep moving forward even though I lost someone who truely cared about what I was doing or at least trying to accomplish.
Many of you on here know I do not post very much and I am sure many of you don't even like me (although they probably wouldn't be reading this thread) but the few that have talked to me or met me in person knows I have always given up my time to help other fellow jeepers out or answered a few phone calls about problems they couldn't figure out.
So with those little insights I hope I can be a little more involved and I do have a few things I would like to accomplish even if it is not right away.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Losing people close to you unexpectedly is always a difficult situation. I wish you the best of luck as you move forward.
