Re: WildVisionsWK - Build Thread

Today I finally got around to doing my wheels! I almost didn't think I would have the energy after having worked a 16 hour-long shift at the hospital yesterday and getting to bed at 4:30AM. I guess the excitement of finally getting this done overpowered the desire to hibernate all day.

It was fun! I will need to go back over the calipers later because for some reason the paint (Dupli-Color Engine Enamel) was pitting and not sticking to some areas, despite the fact that I cleaned the calipers, sanded them down, and cleaned them again.

I chose to go with yellow since everyone and their grandmother has red calipers and I wanted to be different. It will also go nicely with my very yellow fogs once I install those.

First wheel done!

While waiting for the second wheel to dry I quickly test-fitted the fog lights. I am still awaiting my HID kit, relay, and multifunction switch so I didn't install these today, but it was nice to see how they look.

Fog + second wheel done. I like the repeating scheme of black and yellow that the car is slowly developing.

All done!

Now I'm off to soak in a relaxing bubble bath and hopefully persuade the boyfriend to give me a nice, long back rub because my back is killing me after lifting those heavy wheels. :P

Thank you! A lot of people out here in the Los Angeles area have HIDs (many with reflector housings...ugh! ) and the 8K ultra blue is the trend, it seems. I don't think I can drive a block without encountering at least one car with blazing blue head lights, fogs, or both. I decided to be different and go with 3K HIDs fitted into yellow fog light housings since it's a look that isn't done often, and I like the color. I can't wait to install it and then take the car out somewhere for some proper photos with my dSLR.

Not only is the look unique, it's responsible and looks cool!

There is undoubtedly a lot of tools out there rolling 8K and up, if only there were laws in place to arrest them for stupidity.

Indeed. I've also noticed that, while the blue look is nice, it appears to be dimmer than regular white light. I like to be able to see at night, especially when I'm driving in the canyons, so I think 3K fogs + (eventually) 5K headlights will be a perfect balance of style and clear light output for me.

I'm not bothered much by the color of 8K + HIDs (while common as a $1 bill, it does still have it's appeal) what gets me is when people are lazy and stick them in reflector housings and then blind me while driving like that. Whenever someone like that gets behind me I loooooove to tilt my mirrors at just the right angle to bounce the glare right back at them. :P

There have been studies done that prove blue lights cause eye fatigue so why those dumba**es still use it is beyond me (Ignorance probably). I too run a 5K low-beam coupled with a 3K fog. I would imagine you're going to pair a 3K HiD capsule with the yellow housing or are you thinking of using a 4300K bulb behind it?

I hear you on that! It's part ignorance, part I don't give a f*** and it's a shame their ignorance persists. It makes me want to bash their headlights sometimes

It really makes me want to do this

Can you post more pictures of the yellow calipers. I was thinking about painting mine yellow but I wasn't sure if that would be a bit too much.

Looking good, looking good!!!

I see you're in LA?! Where exactly? I'm in woodland hills

PS I've got 5k HID lows ad 3k HID fogs! I agree about the over abundance of 6+k HIDs out here!
